Pennsylvania College of Technology is Hiring a Faculty, English Composition & Technical Communication Near Williamsport, PA

Overview

This person will be responsible for educational leadership, student instruction, and student advising in English Composition and Technical Communication/Technical Writing.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

  • Master's Degree in Composition, Technical Communication/Technical Writing or closely related discipline. Required
  • Certificate or 12 credits earned in Technical Communication/Technical Writing, OR ability to earn certificate or credits in Technical Communication in the first three years of employment. Required
  • Doctorate in English Composition, Technical Communication/Technical Writing, or closely related discipline. Preferred

EXPERIENCE

  • Successful relevant college teaching experience. Required
  • Successful experience in curriculum and course development. Preferred
  • Scholarship as evidenced by refereed publications. Preferred
  • Continued professional development. Preferred
  • Full-time college teaching. Preferred

ABILITIES AND SKILLS

  • Developed organizational skills. Required
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form. Required
  • Commitment to teaching first-year composition and Technical Communication. Required
  • Demonstrated ability to teach creatively and effectively. Required
  • Experience with computer aided instruction. Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Teach a full load (15 credit hours) per semester of writing courses including basic English, English Composition I & II, and Technical and Professional Communication.
  • Advise, schedule and maintain accurate records on students.
  • Write and update course syllabi.
  • Assist with curriculum review, revision and development.
  • Engage in professional development in discipline and in instructional methodology appropriate to field of study.
  • Contribute to the betterment of the College through School committee participation.
  • Contribute to the betterment of the Department through Department committee participating.
  • Participate in outcomes assessment and program review.
  • Maintain office hours according to contractual guidelines.
  • Contribute to the betterment of the College through College-wide committee participation. (Marginal)

Pay Transparency

Commensurate with credentials submitted as applied to the College’s Faculty Salary System. As a point of reference, the salary range for new full-time faculty hired in various disciplines throughout the College for the 2023/24 academic year is $59,299 – $77,142.The wages, hours, and terms and conditions of employment for full-time teaching faculty, counselors and librarians (all regular College funded positions and certain grant/contract funded positions) are determined by the negotiated Agreement between Pennsylvania College of Technology and the Penn College Education Association. If you are currently receiving an annuity from the State or Public School Employees’ Retirement System, employment at Pennsylvania College of Technology may affect your annuity status. If you are currently a member of either the State or Public School Employees’ Retirement System you may be required to contribute into the System.
