Pennsylvania College of Technology is Hiring a Childcare Provider (Part-time) Near Williamsport, PA

Overview

This person will implement predetermined daily program activities under the guidance and direction of the Group Leader.

Qualifications

Education:

-A high school diploma or equivalency. (Minimum) -Fifteen (15) credit hours in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Elementary Education or Special Education. (Desired) -Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education. (Desired) -Child Development Associate (CDA) credential. (Desired)

Experience:

-Two (2) years work experience with young children (birth to 8 years) unless candidate possesses an Associate degree; OR, one (1) year experience and 15 credit hours in ECE or related discipline. (Minimum)

Abilities and Skills:

-Effective oral and written communication skills. (Minimum) -Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with children and parents. (Minimum) -Sensitivity to the expectations of children and parents. (Minimum) -Knowledge of Pennsylvania regulations related to Child Care Centers. (Minimum) -Developed organizational skills. (Minimum) -Current Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain. (Minimum)

Responsibilities

-Program and Duties:  -Assist the Group Leader with implementation of developmentally appropriate daily program activities that reflect the Center/program’s philosophy and children’s goals. (Essential) -Comply with all requirements for the protection and safety of Center children as directed by the Group Leader. (Essential) -Assist the Group Leader with the safe arrival and departure of children. (Essential) -Follow the Center’s plan to deal with medical emergencies and site evacuations as required. (Essential) -Assist the Group Leader with assessments of children as requested and/or participate in parent conferences, as needed. (Essential) -Assist program staff with serving meals and snacks to children. (Essential) -Maintain classroom materials and equipment in a safe and orderly manner. (Essential) -Assume responsibility for classroom operation in the absence of the Group Leader. (Essential) Administrative Duties:  -Maintain up-to-date accurate written records on children’s attendance, results of screenings, assessments, meals, and parent contacts. (Essential) -Participate in staff development opportunities. (Essential) -Attend staff and joint academic program and Center planning meetings. (Essential) Staff/Parent Duties:  -Serve as a positive role model for the Center’s children, Penn College students, and volunteers. (Essential) -Encourage parental involvement in related Center activities. (Essential)

Physical Standards and Special Job Features

Physical Standards:

-Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.

Special Job Features:

-Schedule/hours will be as needed, not to exceed 18 hours per week (except on occasion) and will be dependent upon the needs of the Center and certification guidelines. -This position is subject to a background check. -State Police, Child Line, FBI fingerprint and National Sex Offender Registry clearances under the Pennsylvania Child Protective Services Law (CPSL) required before employment can begin. -A bi-annual physical exam and a pre-employment test for tuberculosis are required at employee’s expense.
