Hours : 8 hours

SUMMARY OF POSITION :

Responsible for providing assistance with various health care services, for obtaining specimens for conducting routine lab studies of specimens, and for assisting with administrative functions such as coordinating patient flow and scheduling appointments and phone messages. Serve as a trained preceptor for new medical assistant orientation and for instruction of medical assistant students. Responsible for one project or initiative annually in the one of the following areas: Service Excellence, Quality, Staff Development, Information Technology, or Medical Group functions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current active status as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through one of the Penn State Health approved agencies for Medical Assistant certification required.
  • Two (2) years of experience as a Medical Assistant in an outpatient practice or clinical specialty area required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or must obtain BLS Certification within 6 months of employment date.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):

    • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program
    • Associates Degree preferred

      KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

      • Excellent communication skills
      • Compassionate direct patient contact/engagement/outreach
      • Reliable transportation to travel among designated clinic locations
      • Flexibility to collaboratively work with various departments and perform varied tasks
