Position Title: Community Recreation Center Supervisor
Supervisor’s Title: Manager of Recreation Services
FLSA Status: Exempt
Positions Supervised: Front Desk Coordinator, Facility Attendants
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Community Center Supervisor is responsible for day-to-day operations of the District’s community recreation center. This position supports the District’s mission and strategic objectives by planning, coordinating, and supervising Center operations to meet identified goals, providing excellent customer service, and supervising and developing assigned staff. The position has direct engagement with the public, staff, community partners, vendors, contractors, and consultants.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
1. Plans, coordinates, and supervises Center operations to support identified goals.
2. Develops and implements policies, processes, and procedures related to Center operations.
3. Develops and implements customer service standards for the Center. Takes prompt action to resolve issues.
4. Develops, coordinates, and implements facility, program, event, and rental schedules to support identified goals. Coordinates with the appropriate staff to plan, organize, oversee, and evaluate internal and external Center programs.
5. Determines Center equipment and supply needs. Supervises and monitors the distribution, use, and maintenance of the Center and related equipment, and supplies. Takes prompt action to initiate the resolution of any deficiencies.
6. In collaboration with marketing staff, plans, initiates, and oversees the effective publicity and promotion of the Center, including programs, services, rentals, schedules, and events. Monitors community outreach efforts to ensure information is effectively and consistently communicated with the public.
7. Assists with creating goals for Center performance. Monitors and reports on identified performance measures.
8. Assists in preparing budgets for Center operations. Plans and implements strategies to meet revenue and cost recovery goals. Controls costs and expenditures related to Center operations and ensures resources are allocated effectively.
9. Assists with the administration of the District’s registration and facility scheduling software program.
10. Coordinates and oversees all community use of the Center, including rentals, memberships, drop-in use, miniature golf, tournaments, and external events.
11. Recruits, hires, schedules, and supervises assigned staff. Coaches, mentors, and trains direct report staff in support of District goals, objectives, policies, and procedures. Assigns work, provides continuous performance management, and conducts employee performance evaluations. Addresses performance and/or behavior issues, clarifying expectations and providing feedback.
12. Maintains accurate records of program participation, facility usage, and incident reports.
13. Takes responsibility and ownership for accomplishing work, delivering results, and meeting the organization’s objectives. Sets high standards of shared performance for self and others.
14. Creates and maintains an inclusive work environment that respects diverse ideas, backgrounds, and styles.
15. Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Experience:
· Four years of increasingly responsible experience with facility operations, with at least two years of supervisory experience.
Required Education:
· A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in recreation management, public administration, education, or a related field.
Professional Licenses/Certifications:
· Certification in CPR, First Aid, blood borne pathogens, and AED (or obtained within 90 days of hire).
· Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) credential preferred.
