Pender Community Hospital District is Hiring a Paraprofessional/Teacher Aide (part-time) Near Pender, NE

Job Description:

The Paraprofessional/Teacher Aide provides additional support in the classroom. The paraprofessional/teacher aide's goal is to assist in providing a well-organized, smooth functioning classroom environment in which all children can take full advantage of the instructional program and available resource materials.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Interactions with Children
    • Interact with individual children and groups on a daily basis through circle time, centers, snacks, lunchtime, playground, free play, etc
    • Develop an individual relationship with each child build on trust and respect.
    • Utilize appropriate language, interactions and positive discipline while modeling positive behavior.
    • Ensure the safety of each child enrolled in the class whether in the classroom, on the playground, or in common areas.
    • Treat each child with dignity and respect for his/her cultural background.
    • Ensure confidentiality, promote ethical practices, and maintain professional boundaries at all times.
    • Continuously monitor children to ensure safety at all times and report child abuse and neglect.

  • Early Childhood Programing
    • Assist in individual and group age-appropriate activities to actively engage children and encourage social, cognitive and emotional growth.

  • Communication with Parents
    • Complete necessary documentation for classroom activities including meals, attendance, toileting, sleeping, and behaviors in a timely matter.
    • Communicate with parents daily through messages, notes, and pictures regarding their child’s activities, temperament, incidents and overall well-being.
    • Greet parents daily as they drop off and pick up with a warm smile and positive comment about their child.

  • Environment
    • Ensure proper cleaning and sanitizing of surfaces, equipment and classroom toys
    • Routinely check that all classroom equipment and materials are in good repair.

  • Assessment
    • Assist in documenting ongoing observation and evaluation of children's development and progress.

  • Administrative Functions
    • Ensure all center policies and state regulations are met.
    • Maintain a positive attitude
    • Maintain current infant/child CPR and first aid certification.
    • Maintain Safe with You certification
    • Complete at least twelve (12) hours of professional development annually.

Hours: Minimum 24 hours/week, Monday-Friday
Experience and Skills:

Education and/or Experience

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience preferred

Certificates, Licensure, Registrations

  • Applicable certificates, licensures, registrations and training as set forth in the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services administrative codes
  • Infant and child CPR certified
  • Safe with You and Early Learning Guideline Certification - ability to obtain within one (1) year of employment
  • AIDET training

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
