- Position SummaryUnder the supervision of nursing and medicine, facilitates the safe and effective provision of invasive surgical procedures, encompassing neonates to geriatric clients. This individual possess the expertise in the theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique, combines the knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures and implementation of tools and technologies to support patient outcomes.
- Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology.
- License/Certifications: Must hold National Certification as an Operating Room Technologist or be able to obtain within 12 months of hire. Basic Life Support Certification within six months.
- Experience: One year of surgical practice preferred.
- Completes unit based competencies.
- Demonstrates the knowledge of infection control in the unit.
- Demonstrates sound judgment and critical surgical thinking skills in practice.
- Identifies “potential” requirement intra-operatively.
