Pelican's Snoballs of Columbia is Hiring an Event/ Catering Lead Near Columbia, SC

Pelican's SnoBalls has an expansive, mature territory with hundreds of booked catering events each season. We are seeking an energetic, charismatic and capable individual. Ideally, the right hire will be someone who enjoys the change of scenery and fast pace that comes with serving at new venues each day and working outdoors. Event service and set-up is simple and straight forward but punctuality is a must. Bookings may be one of hundreds to us, but they are one of one to our customers.

Hours are based on booking dates and times. Events are confirmed and assigned to staff weekly to bi-weekly but events are often known months in advance for scheduling and assignments are flexible. You will be actively putting smiles on peoples faces each day with the uplifting presence Pelican's brings to events so

-Drive branded vehicles to and from events
-Pack up, serve, and break down events
-Help Clean and maintain event equipment such is ice coolers, tables, etc.

The Event Lead will be first on the schedule for event bookings. These hours are given to you first, then filled in by other staff once your desired threshold is met. You will have the option to work store hours for slower event weeks (March & October) but this is not required. If you have any questions feel free to reach out directly at any point during the application process. Thanks for your time!

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $13.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week

Benefits:

  • Employee discount
  • Flexible schedule
  • Paid training
  • Vision insurance

Application Question(s):

  • Aside from a standard cargo van, we have a large vehicle (think Fed-Ex box truck) to take to events. It does not require a special license to drive, but it does require confidence and an experienced driver. Are you familiar with driving a larger vehicle of any kind and are you prepared to handle a vehicle this size?
  • Do you understand that your scheduled shifts will rely on the booking dates/times and that your schedule will need to be flexible enough to cover at least some of these bookings on various days throughout the week?
  • This job will require lifting coolers of ice and heavy ice shavers (50lbs), setting up/ breaking down pop-up style tents, and otherwise serving customers outside during the summer heat. There is always shade and often fans but temperatures get hot in Columbia working outside regardless. Do you understand these working conditions and the general nature of this job being outside event service?

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Work Location: Multiple locations
