Job Responsibilities Table Rock State Park fits the bill for the natural beauty attributed to scenic Highway 11. The towering mountain, which gives the park its name, serves as a backdrop for the 3,000 acre park and its facilities. Below this section of the Blue Ridge Mountains, South Carolina natives and visitors can enjoy Table Rock State Park cabins, a campground and an old-fashioned swimming hole on one of the park's two lakes.
Job Purpose and Duties:
1) Performs duties necessary for maintenance and upkeep of state parks to include repair and construction of facilities, operation and repair of motorized equipment, groundskeeping and landscaping activities. Assists with the administration and operation of a state park; assist park visitors.
2) Performs and directs clean-up and housekeeping activities to assure the attractiveness, cleanliness and safety of park grounds and facilities.
3) Assists with the operation of the park by registering campers, complete related forms, and reports, performing routine patrol, working in retail sales areas.
4) Repair and maintain large equipment such as tractors and large mowers. Performs preventative maintenance on facilities and equipment. Keeps maintenance records.
5) Assists the Park Manager and Assistant Manager in planning and scheduling the park's maintenance program.
6) Assists in the inventory of all supplies and tools.
7) Repairs and maintains all small engines to include lawn mowers, weed eaters, blowers, and chainsaws.
8) Practice and promote teamwork within the State Park Service, throughout the agency and with external agency stakeholders. Represents office as an active member on agency teams assigned throughout the year.
Minimum and Additional Requirements High school diploma or equivalent and one (1) year of general maintenance experience.
Additional Requirements:
1) Position requires medium to heavy lifting, bending, walking, and standing on uneven terrain, crawling and working at heights. Exposure to weather conditions, cleaning agents and other materials used in maintaining park facilities and grounds.
2) Ability to read and understand written procedures and directions; ability to perform simple arithmetic computation. Ability to operate a variety of power tools.
3) Must possess a valid driver's license.
4) Must be able to communicate both verbally and in writing.
