Job Summary:
As a key member of the Culinary Research and Development team the WIP Production Supervisor leads a group of production crews in Kettle, Bakery, Sheeter and Mixing Rooms to execute the production schedule using the resources available and deliver the products meeting quality specifications on time. Maintaining work flow by monitoring steps of the process, production variables, control points, SOPs, WIP records and preparation of relevant production reports. Must be able to establish expectations for food safety, safety, quality, productivity and reliability. Works closely with the Culinary R&D and Commercialization Manager, Warehouse Supervisor and Production Manager & Supervisors.

Job Duties and Responsibilities Include (But are not limited to):

  • Carry out and complete WIP production plan on schedule utilizing the resources given, coordinating with relevant supporting departments personnel for materials planning.
  • Supervises and coordinates activities of large batch food preparation daily.
  • Leads and coordinates a team of hourly employees in the daily production of WIP food inventory processing using commercial machinery.
  • Understands and executes batch calculations and food preparation according to Pegasus manufacturing formulas.
  • Checks the quality of product to ensure that quality standards are met.
  • Is responsible for managing the flow of and accurately accounting for raw materials inventory coming in and out of the kettle and mixing rooms.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, efficient, and food safe production area.
  • Develops and maintains Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the operations to help meet production specifications and product standards, as well as reduce overall cost, maximize productivity and profitability.
  • Develops and maintain accurate records, and prepare production reports, including daily throughput, yield, and waste logs.
  • Manages machine utilization to meet or exceed efficiency goals and recommends or directs necessary personnel, maintenance or engineering changes to help achieve those goals.
  • Manages ingredient and WIP requirements for the day to ensure no delay in startup or production.
  • Ensures the quality, food safety and consistency of all products.
  • Supports the compliance with, and maintenance of, applicable food safety, food quality and regulatory programs.
  • Monitors and enforces company standard operating procedures, rules and regulations, etc. Develops and maintains all safety related initiatives.
  • Communicates and Interacts effectively with internal management and employees as well as representatives and customers of the company.
  • Assumes additional hands on supervisory responsibilities as assigned/required.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Culinary Degree or related field (preferred).
  • FSMA / HACCP Certification is a plus.
  • Experience in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.
  • Experienced with food processing, packaging equipment, large batch food processing and preparation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
  • Collaborates well with other departments proactively and contributes to group objectives.
  • Good interpersonal skills with prior supervisory/management experience.
  • Good computer skills with working knowledge of MS Word & Excel.
  • Knowledge of Batchmaster, SAP or other ERP systems (preferred).
  • Understanding of safe work practices, incident investigation techniques permit to work systems, management of change and safety & environmental regulations.
  • Leadership skills to develop a workforce through engagement, coaching, corrective action and progressive discipline.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and react to changing priorities, independent, well-organized and proactive work style in a fast-paced environment.
  • Great interpersonal skills to build credibility and influence a variety of cross-functional Leaders.
  • Ability to work effectively independently, or in a team environment.
  • Ability to work with the highest accuracy and properly prioritize.
  • Results/deadline oriented with effective follow through.
