Position Title: PCAPD Prevention Educator
Classification Status: Part-time; Non-Exempt
Reports to: PCAPD Program Director
Our Work: Established in 1986, Pee Dee Coalition is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the reduction of sexual assault, family violence, and child abuse and to the needs of victims. The organization serves the seven-county Pee Dee Region of SC including Florence, Darlington, Marion, Chesterfield, Marlboro, Dillon, and Williamsburg Counties. In addition, the Durant Children’s Center also serves Sumter County.
Summary: Prevention Educator is responsible for classroom presentations to children, ages 4-10 in a group setting.
Responsibilities:
Æ Learn the “Talking About Touching” curriculum and present to classrooms or groups of children
Æ Engage children in a group setting in the presentation
Æ Develop materials for utilization in each presentation
Æ Set appointments and meet with School District Administration for presenting information about child abuse and the mission of PCAPD. Give highlights or an overview of the presentations to aid in administrator’s decision-making process.
Æ Once approval is received, contact individual schools within the district to schedule presentations.
Æ Contact youth-serving organizations (Boys and Girls Club, YMCA, Scouting, and faith-based groups) to schedule presentations to children within their care.
Æ Provide teachers/leaders with follow-up materials and provide children with materials to carry home for parental reinforcement of the concepts learned.
Æ Document all presentations and enter into the database.
 
Other Responsibilities: 
Æ Adhere to PDC’s vision, mission, and philosophy
Æ Attend appropriate training workshops and conferences. Share relevant information with other team members and possibly other members of the staff.
Æ Participate in monthly staff meetings and other meetings upon request.
Æ Abide by and meet all applicable grant requirements and objectives.
Æ Maintain confidentiality and privacy of all employees.
Æ Maintain confidentiality of shelter location, personnel, and financial information.
Æ Meet other needs identified by the Executive Director and/or the Management Team.
Æ Ensure the Program Director is aware of any issues that may affect the organization.
 
 
Requirements:
Æ Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education.
Æ SC SLED Criminal Records, Sex Offender Registry, and DSS Central Registry clearance.
Æ Valid SC Driver’s License 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Æ Comprehensive knowledge of child abuse and child abuse prevention
Æ Excellent oral and written communication skills with a focus on children, ages 4-10
Æ Have and maintain a good driving record (verified by DMV reports at the time of hire), a reliable vehicle, and proof of liability insurance.
Æ Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Office 365.
Æ Ability to proofread and identify errors in one’s own work as it relates to grammar, subject/verb agreement, and spelling.
Æ Ability to analyze information and recognize problems or errors.
Æ Data entry ability to accurately and completely document all presentations in the database

Classification:
Part-time position - classified as non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is subject to all overtime rules.
