Our Work: Established in 1986, Pee Dee Coalition is a non-profit organization dedicated to reducing sexual assault, family violence, and child abuse and to the needs of victims. The organization serves the seven-county Pee Dee Region of SC, including Florence, Darlington, Marion, Chesterfield, Marlboro, Dillon, and Williamsburg Counties. In addition, the Durant Children’s Center also serves Sumter County.
Job Summary: The Community Outreach Advocate, under the direction of the County Services Coordinator, shall be responsible for the provision of counseling services to victims of domestic and sexual violence and their families, community education opportunities, and enhancing community relations in the assigned service area. 
Victim Assistance:
  • Assist with providing direct and support services to victims, including crisis counseling (face-to-face & telephone), hospital accompaniment, court accompaniment, and information and referral.
  • Document all services in the victim database within 24 hours of service provision.
Community Relations Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate special projects and community-wide events.
  • Attend and participate in the monthly County Chapter Board meetings.
  • Take minutes of the meetings and file them accordingly. 
  • Actively solicited opportunities for community education presentations. Participate in the community education component of the organization through public speaking, media interviews, and attendance/participation in community events.
Volunteer Services Responsibilities:
Assess organizational need for volunteers in the assigned county to include direct and support services as well as education and training
  • Assist in placing volunteers to assist in the Satellite Crisis Centers to assist with advocacy, crisis line work, clerical support, special projects, and needed services.
  • Provide for formal and informal recognition of volunteers.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date volunteer records.
  • Enter all volunteer hours into database the first of each month.
  • Be familiar with all grant requirements regarding utilization of volunteers and documentation of volunteer hours.
General Responsibilities:
  • Participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings and staff in-service trainings.
  • Attend staff development training as indicated by the Director of Development or the Executive Director.
  • Cooperate with the Executive Director and staff to carry out the delegated responsibilities in the service of the goals and objectives of the Pee Dee Coalition.
  • Hold in confidence all organization and client-related information.
Requirements: 
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred. Complete the Coalition s victim advocacy training within the first 3 months of employment and VSP training within the first 6 months.

Classification: This position is classified as non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is thereby subject to all overtime.
