Remote Policy: This is a remote position. Candidate must be residing in Texas or willing to relocate to Texas by their start date.

Required/Preferred Skills:
  • 3 years, Required - Data Architect Role
  • 5 years, Required - Data modeling in SQL Server Enterprise Edition
  • 5 years, Required - Analyzing and generating technical requirements and design
  • 7 years, Required - Creating and maintaining data models
  • 7 years, Required - Database development experience utilizing RDBMS
  • 7 years, Required - Design a SQL Server database for high usage/high availability transactional system
  • 5 years, Required - Database tuning techniques
  • 7 years, Required - Analyzing source databases, source data, source database referential integrity and profiling source data
  • 3 years, Required - Experience with data mining and archiving
  • 7 years, Required - Experience with MS SQL Server DBMS
  • 3 years, Required - Experience with managing RDBMS in AWS
  • 5 years, Required - Creating source to target mapping database documentation
  • 5 years, Required - Assist with migrating data from legacy database to new target database

TWC is migrating one of its high-usage transactional system from a legacy platform to newer technologies in the cloud and requires a Database Architect with proven experience to:
  • Document the “as is” schemas currently in use at TWC in SQL Server databases and Oracle databases.
  • Document existing data interfaces in the legacy system.
  • Document existing downstream impacts of the legacy system.
  • Document database process that currently extract the data from the existing system for reporting purposes. 
  • Create data models and reverse and forward engineer data models in an AWS SQL Server environment.
  • Define and document the technical architecture of the new transactional system, including the physical components and their functionality.
  • Perform other analysis and documentation tasks as required to facilitate and support this migration project.
  • Provide oversight and design of the migration and conversion of legacy data to the new database.
  • Create scripts for data conversion and migration from legacy systems to new database platform.
Services are expected to start as soon as possible and are expected to be completed by August 31, 2024, or when total hours estimated on work order have been depleted, whichever occurs first. Total estimated Worker hours shall not exceed 1,040 hours per worker. This service may be amended, renewed and/or extended and hours added upon mutual written agreement of the parties. Purchase Order(s) will be for one fiscal year at a time; therefore, the first Purchase Order(s) may expire August 31, 2024 but may be renewed. Unused hours may be rolled over from one fiscal year to the next, as necessary. This service is subject to cancellation without penalty to Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) and/or TWC, either in whole or in part, if funds are not appropriated by the Texas Legislature or otherwise made available. This service may be amended, renewed, and/or extended providing both parties agree to do so in writing.
  • A. Services shall be provided during normal business hours unless otherwise coordinated through TWC. Normal business hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, excluding State holidays when the agency is closed. If the Vendor is headquartered in Texas, this position is eligible for telecommuting from within the Continental United States. If not headquartered in Texas, this position is eligible for telecommuting from anywhere in the state of Texas. Candidate must be residing in Texas or willing to relocate to Texas by their start date. This is a remote position. Ideal candidates must have a secure, dedicated workspace with Internet service, ability to maintain a reliable consistent work schedule, and be available for weekly meetings and group collaboration via Microsoft Teams and other applications during regular business hours. Position may require team members to come into the office for scheduled meetings, and there may be unscheduled request with seventy-two (72) hour notice for any TWC business need.
  • B. The primary work location(s) will be at 101 E. 15th Street, Austin, Texas 78701. 
  • C. Any and all travel, per diem, parking, and/or living expenses shall be at the Worker’s and/or Vendor’s expense.
  • D. The Worker(s) may be required to work outside the normal business hours on weekends, evenings, and holidays, as requested. Payment for work over forty (40) hours will be at the hourly rate quoted and must be coordinated and pre-approved through TWC.
