As the Grants Compliance Auditor, you'll dive into complex audits to ensure compliance with laws and regulations, particularly regarding grantee accounting practices related to agency grant funds. Your work will involve analyzing records, identifying areas of non-compliance, and communicating effectively to ensure adherence to regulations.
Who you will be working with
The Institute is home to groundbreaking cancer research and prevention programs and services, establishing Texas as a world-class leader in the prevention and research of cancer.
Major Duties
  • Conduct in-depth audits of all complexities to ensure adherence to legal and agency regulations.
  • Perform targeted compliance assessments focusing on grantee accounting practices - specifically, the utilization of grant funds and matching requirements.
  • Scrutinize and evaluate grantee accounting records for accuracy, reliability, and efficiency. Identify and document any instances of non-compliance with meticulous detail.
  • Maintain meticulous audit trails through comprehensive work papers, supporting findings and conclusions.
  • Draft detailed reports for each completed examination, highlighting areas of non-compliance with applicable regulations and grant stipulations (approval required).
  • Communicate, interpret, and clarify agency policies and procedures in a clear and concise manner, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Employ comprehensive research methods, including interviews, document reviews, and prior audit analyses, to identify and define potential audit issues.
  • Provide training sessions to grant recipients on agency policies and procedures, offering guidance to optimize their performance and grant utilization.
  • Be a team player and contribute to the overall effectiveness of the organization by fulfilling any additional duties assigned.
What are we looking for
  • Experience in accounting, auditing, or compliance monitoring.
  • Proficiency in conducting compliance monitoring reviews and interpreting relevant laws and policies.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Knowledge of accounting and auditing methods and systems and generally accepted auditing standards and procedures.
  • Ability to interpret agency policies and procedures and the Texas Grant Management Standards (TxGMS).
  • Skill in the use of a computer, applicable software, and sampling techniques.
  • Ability to compose clear and concise written reports, to gather and analyze accurate and relevant audit information, to evaluate accounting and management operations systems for accuracy and legal conformance, to accurately complete and assemble working papers, and to communicate effectively.

  • Rate: $43.00 per hour
  • Assignment Length: Through 8/31/24; Temporary to Permanent Employment Opportunity.
  • Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, Standard Business Hours.
  • Location: Austin, TX 78701 (Hybrid)
