Peace River Center is Hiring a Resource Development Manager Near Lakeland, FL

The Resource Development Manager's primary responsibility is to share our "impact story" by researching, developing, and writing grant proposals to persuasively communicate Peace River Center's (PRC) mission, programs and impact to potential funders. This role will help PRC continue to make an impact by securing new funding, renewing and upgrading existing support, continually seeking opportunities for stewardship, and cultivating both current and potential funders. This position will help PRC continue to save, transform, and change lives!

Additionally, the Resource Development Manager will assist with fundraising campaigns and events, research fundraising opportunities, and assist with writing and developing external organization communication and fundraising materials. The Resource Development Associate will join a small Community Relations team that closely collaborates with the President & CEO, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer, program staff, and reports directly to the Director of Development and Community Relations.

Successful candidates will be self-directed and capable of working independently with limited direction and have outstanding writing skills with strong attention to detail.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

Grant Development

  • Manage the grant development process; write and review grant proposals and reports - collaborating closely with internal staff to obtain information
  • Work with finance team to prepare budgets and other supportive materials for grant applications
  • Research grant and fundraising opportunities; utilizing databases, publications and government websites, matching program goals and priorities with grant opportunities
  • Maintain a calendar of grant deliverables and ensure timely reporting
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of all grant deliverables and proposals
  • Assist in ensuring internal compliance with grant agreements - including metrics of success
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with grant contacts, stakeholders and funders
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate complex concepts

Communication Role

  • Assist Community Relations Manager with writing organization-wide marketing collateral, including but not limited to newsletter (internal and external), E-blasts, and other means of marketing and fundraising solicitation/campaigns
  • Write and deliver presentations on behavioral health, domestic violence awareness and prevention and other topics as requested
  • Assist with media relations including writing media releases/advisories and developing talking points as needed
  • Serve as the Mental Health First Aid coordinator for our grant-funded Mental Health First Aid program, including but not limited to the coordination of training attendees, venue needs, catering needs, class material needs, and tracking of grant required metrics

Resource Development Role

  • Work with the Director in proactively researching and securing funds for the organization through a variety of sources such as corporate sponsorships, fundraising events, direct mail campaigns and community groups
  • Assist with special events including Full Moon Howl and the Coffee Benefit and other events as needed
  • Manages Full Moon Howl auction software process alongside committee and staff
  • Ensure top donors and prospects are included in appropriate events and are recognized for their service and generosity
  • Maintain effective working relationships with donors, volunteers, government, media, foundation representatives, and others to nurture their connection to the organization
  • Manages internal United Way campaign

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of grant writing and development best practices
  • Energetic, organized, self-starter with outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including proofreading

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree required. Degree in Communication or related degree preferred.

Experience:

  • 4-5 years of fundraising or grant writing experience preferred
  • Experience with writing, proofreading and editing

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Researching grants and funding resources, and working across departments to fulfill grant requirements such a marketing recognition, tracking, and reporting
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail required
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills; ability to take initiative, manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize effectively
  • Must have excellent proofreading skills
  • Computer and desktop publishing skills, specifically Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite and others
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Must work well independently
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, open office environment
  • Passion for the PRC mission

Work Environment:

The work environment is fast-paced and consists of exposure to physical conditions typical of a normal office environment. The populations cared for will include patients who are confused, delusional, irrational, agitated, or uncooperative. Most of the job is performed while sitting, although the work may require occasional standing or walking and/or the lifting and carrying of small objects. A small amount of travel may be required for meetings etc. to another PRC location.
