QUALIFICATIONS:

• Certification as a CNA or Medical Assistant preferred but not required.
• Two years of related experience, preferably working with children under age 5.
• Knowledge of child and family health.
• Ability to communicate with young children, parents, staff and professionals.
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in team environment.
• Computer data input skills.
• Valid NYS driver license with ability to travel to various sites as needed per Health Coordinator.
• Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• CPR certification.
• MAT certification helpful.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Work in conjunction with the Site Nurse/Health Coordinators toward the goal of optimum health for the children enrolled at assigned site(s).

2. Assist Site/Collaboration Nurse with:

• preforming Health Screenings and vital signs as directed
• updating health information and data entry in My Head Start
• filing paperwork into student records/files
• managing inventory/replacing supplies in First Aid Backpacks
• Health Education in classrooms

3. Utilize Site Nurse, Health Coordinator and Assistant Health Coordinator for technical assistance.

4. Serve as an advocate for child health.
