Job Description:

  • Maintain and service mechanical equipment, machinery, and components for Foreign Object Debris (FOD) removal
  • Perform skilled routine maintenance of the FOD removal equipment in accordance with the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) manuals and guidelines
  • Evaluate need for repairs that are beyond routine maintenance level
  • Identify parts needed for replacement under routine maintenance or repairs that are outside of warranty
  • Work with PCIA management to get orders placed for replacement parts
  • Receive in replacement parts
  • Perform minor repairs as needed
  • Complete all work in accordance with established safety procedures
  • Operate the FOD removal equipment on a schedule coordinated with the air station
  • o Load and unload FOD equipment using a forklift
  • o Ensure availability of necessary equipment required to tow and/or move FOD equipment
  • o Operate tow vehicles
  • o Provide on-site familiarization training, as required, to ensure any new personnel know how to properly operate the FOD equipment and tow vehicles
  • Coordinate with OEMs and/or their designated local, authorized dealers on equipment to be repaired under warranty or major repairs outside the warranty period
  • Record failures in PCIA’s database
  • Handle the packaging and shipment of FOD Removal equipment as it initially comes in, when it needs to go out for warranty or major repair and receipt after return following repair
  • Maintain a current list of all FOD removal equipment under PCIA’s possession at all times

The FOD Officer will contribute as a Team Lead and a member of a maintenance and operator service group at MCAS Miramar, California.

Job Requirements:
  • Must be able to obtain a security clearance
  • Associates Degree (preferred)
  • 3-5 years’ experience desired
  • Forklift operator certified
  • Mechanical and electrical equipment experience
  • Specific experience working with USMC’s support equipment
  • Ability to comply with all other requirements as specified within the PCI Aviation Personnel Policies and Procedures

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical demands described herein are representative of those which must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Employees must possess the ability to work in a production environment.

To visit other company sites, employees must be able to operate a motor vehicle which may require sitting for prolonged periods of time. Must possess the ability to quickly adjust controls, see details at close range, respond quickly to signals, and quickly move hands with arms to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects. Must have hearing and speech to communicate in person in a noisy environment, before groups and over the telephone. Standing in work areas and walking between work areas will be required. This position requires an employee to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb or balance, reach, push, and pull. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
