JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary
The Heavy Equipment Hauler is responsible for the safe, efficient transportation of construction equipment to aggregate locations and the shop. Must be able to adhere to company safety regulations, as well as state and federal regulations. In addition, this role will aid shop mechanics in performing maintenance, preventative maintenance, and repair of various types of heavy equipment. This role will also include picking up and delivering parts to the shop and performing the necessary duties for the smooth operation of the parts department.
Functional Responsibilities
Ø Exhibit a strong work ethic with the ability to take direction and work in a team setting and independently.
Ø Adhere to Permian Basin Materials Code of Conduct and company policies.
Ø Able to properly secure equipment for transport, and ensure loads conform to local, state, and federal regulations.
Ø Professionally operate the vehicle and equipment and perform all tasks in a safe manner to include maintaining fuel and water at proper levels. This includes being able to maneuver the truck into and out of particularly tight places and/or over uneven terrain.
Ø Able to complete driver’s pre/post-trip equipment inspections and maintain daily hours of service logs.
Ø Perform regular maintenance and cleaning of assigned light and heavy haul trucks and all associated elements, including keeping the inside of the cabs clean and sanitary.
Ø Follow order and delivery instructions received from manager.
Ø Perform routine preventative maintenance such as lubricating, oil changes, and failure analysis on heavy equipment.
Ø Provide assistance with creating work orders on repairs and services, providing legible and accurate information and inputting daily repair information in the maintenance database.
Ø Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment.
Ø Pick up and deliver merchandise where directed.
Ø Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the maintenance shop.
Ø Help Maintenance Clerk stock parts and maintain inventory.
Ø Adhere to company policies and procedures and continuously promote the safety culture within the Company.
Ø Wear protective clothing and equipment as required.
Ø Perform other duties as assigned including some administrative responsibilities.
Competencies
Ø Strong math, reasoning, and analytical skills
Ø Able to read and adhere to load permits.
Ø Excellent organizational and time management skills
EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/CERTIFICATIONS
Ø 3 years of Heavy Haul experience with the ability to secure loads according to DOT standards and demonstrate the capability of reading and adhering to permits.
Ø A valid Class A CDL with no major violations that would exclude a person from driving for business as defined by our insurance carrier and company policy.
Ø Must be registered with the Clearinghouse.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Ø Candidate must be drug free.
Ø Position requires moderately strenuous physical work.
Ø Must be able to:
o Lift and carry up to 45 pounds from floor to 3’ – 5’ occasionally,
o Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds frequently,
o Climb in and out of equipment 50 times per day,
o Climb up and down ladders occasionally,
o Sit or stand for extended periods of time,
o Use hands, fingers, and feet to operate and/or service heavy construction machinery and concrete mixers and haul trucks,
o Travel safely while walking and while operating heavy machinery and/or trucks over uneven terrain, roads, and pavement,
o See, hear, and respond to verbal, visual, and written instructions and to moving heavy construction machinery,
o Wear proper protective equipment including hard hat, safety glasses, high visibility clothing, steel-toed boots, and gloves,
o Observe all company Safety policies on company premises and while operating heavy construction machinery,
o Continually work in extreme hot and cold weather conditions,
o Work safely in wet, muddy, and slippery conditions occasionally,
Ø Environment will vary from outdoors with varying noise levels and vibrations associated with construction equipment, and exposure to building materials, dust, and dirt at operating sites to a normal office environment.

o Climb in and out of equipment 50 times per day
o Climb up and down ladders as required throughout the workday
Ø Sit/stand for extended periods of time
Ø Work outdoors under Panhandle/West Texas/Southeastern New Mexico weather
Ø Work on muddy and/or icy surfaces
Ø Environment also includes varying noise levels and vibrations associated with shop equipment, and exposure to dust, dirt, and chemicals at shop locations
