Job Description Summary: What you need to know about the role: We have an immediate need for a software engineer with experience in the payments’ ecosystem. You will be responsible for quickly and accurately triaging reported production issues. You will partner with our customers, merchant agents, engineering colleagues and PayPal partners to bring rapid resolution to production issues and restore customer functionality. This role includes a week-long 12-hour on-call shift once per six weeks to ensure 24x7 support. This position is based in Scottsdale and may require travel of up to 15% to PayPal locations (North America and infrequently to international offices). Meet the Team: Payment’s partner experience is a 24x7 dedicated triage and live-support team responsible for over 1 billion transactions per month supporting PayPal, Braintree, Venmo and over 70 external ecosystem partners. This team triages over 300 issues per month ensuring that the proper team is engaged for service restoration. We operate the world's best payments platform supporting bank, card, rewards, and PayPal balance transactions utilizing an extensive worldwide network of external real-time payment processing partners. Job Description: Your way to impact: Analysis of existing monitoring and alerting for completeness and accuracy Serve as an escalation point for production issues. Ability to drive issues to resolution. Willingness to share on-call responsibilities. Strong communication skills and ability to grasp and convey complex product requirements or technical concepts. Strong understanding of web-based programming languages. Ability to work in a fast paced, iterative development environment. Strong time management skills and ability to work on concurrent assignments with different priorities. Proven results-oriented person with a delivery focus. Good knowledge of online payments and related domains is a plus. Bachelor/ master's degree in computer science, Engineering, closely related quantitative discipline. Understanding or experience in Messaging systems like KAFKA, AMQ, JMS etc. Responsible for analyzing monitoring, alerting, Splunk dashboard skills and be an escalation point for production issues and responsible for driving their resolution. Good understanding and hands on experience with databases such as MySQL/ Oracle etc. Leadership skills for small projects Experience with ticketing software such as ServiceNow and Jira Your day to day: Triage and troubleshoot Live issues for PayPal products and applications on the live site. Collaborate with product development teams and various business groups to prioritize, identify and develop reliability and support-ability improvements. Assure the overall quality and integrity of all PayPal’s payment components. Engage in the automation of daily activities that drive operational excellence and ensure highly productive operating procedures. Support and enhance payment monitoring, alerting escalation mechanisms. Build and maintain strong relationships with cross vertical teams such as Product Management, Product Development, Site Reliability and Operations. Provide and/or review daily, weekly, and quarterly platform goals/metrics to stakeholders. Weekend and after-hours support, on a rotating schedule, if required. What do you need to bring: 2 years of experience in software product development. Strong development experience in Java Sprint Boot, APIs, Services. Ability to design, code and test tools to support the Engineering Operations /Support function. Bugs Triaging / Fixing and Tools development.
