Job Description Summary: PayPal’s Reputation Management function is an organizationally critical team at the forefront of protecting and enhancing the company’s reputation. This role, reporting to the team’s Director of Reputation Management, presents a unique opportunity for someone who possesses experience in media relations, corporate communications and reputation management. With high executive visibility and interface with key internal and external stakeholders, we are looking for an experienced communications professional who is comfortable providing counsel, working cross-functionally with global team members and rolling up their sleeves to get the job done! With a primary focus on proactive and reactive media relations, this role, an integral position on the team, will provide external communications planning and support for PayPal’s Government Relations, Resiliency Management, Legal, Global Governance, Risk and Compliance teams. This position will also collaborate with PayPal’s People and HR Communications team to develop and manage and assist with external communications to support the Company’s core values of diversity and inclusion. We are seeking someone who is an organized, multi-tasker that is comfortable working in a fast paced globally matrixed organization. Job Description:

Top Responsibilities

  • Support the Director, Reputation Management, Media Relations in developing and executing proactive and reactive media strategy and response on a range of high-profile topics and issues.
  • Lead proactive and reactive communications initiative, and work with reporters to understand and analyze incoming media relations inquiries.
  • Develop talking points, FAQs and briefs to address critical topics and issues.
  • Lead the development and execution of proactive, reputation building media engagements and campaigns.
  • Serve as a key member of PayPal’s crisis and issues management team – providing strategy and execution as events unfold. Help to maintain select company communications plans, protocols, and messaging.
  • Support the Director, as needed, on the issues and crisis response program by tracking crisis events, assisting with monthly metrics, and evaluating new best practices.
  • Areas of emphasis may include, but are not limited to: HR, Litigation, Government Relations, Regulatory matters, Information Security, Customer Issues, Product, Marketing and Risk and Compliance situations. This professional may also situationally support PayPal and its affiliated brands, including Venmo, Honey, and Happy Returns.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years of agency or in-house experience; relevant financial sector industry experience a plus, but not a requirement. Public affairs and/or political experience also a plus.
  • Experience serving as a spokesperson and driving media relations strategy and execution.
  • Established reporter relationships and desire to expand network to relevant industry and company beat reporters.
  • Experience and willingness to pick up the phone and proactively/reactively work complex stories with top tier media.
  • Ability to deliver results in high pressure situations. Must have a track record of developing media plans, messaging and related materials under deadline pressure.
  • Ability to synthesize large amounts of data and distill key points clearly, succinctly and quickly.
  • An excellent writer and communicator who is committed to simple, clear and creative ways of communicating.
  • Ability to achieve results in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, often on short deadlines
  • Well versed in social media communications and monitoring, with proven record of using top platforms to analyze data and trends.
  • Ability to think creatively and desire to push past the status quo.
  • Must be able work independently and without direction as well as collaboratively with colleagues.
  • Sense of humor, patience and positive attitude.
  • Bachelor degree required; advanced degree preferred.

The U.S. national annual pay range for this role is $82500 to $187990
