PayneCrest Electric is Hiring an Engineering Manager (Traveler) Near Kansas, KS

We are seeking an Engineering Manager who will take charge of overseeing the design and coordination of electrical construction systems. This role emphasizes the significance of hands-on leadership and people development to ensure top-quality results and experiences for our Engineering Department, all while guiding projects from their initial stages to successful completion.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Team Leadership: Lead a team of Electrical Engineers and Electrical Designers through the entire project life cycle, including planning, preconstruction, construction, and closure.
  • Talent Development: Take charge of developing the team's skills and knowledge base while fostering professional growth within a positive and challenging work environment.
  • Task Assignment: Distribute tasks within the team according to individual talents and availability.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously recommend and implement process and quality improvement within the Engineering Department.
  • Project Responsibilities: Act as the organization's lead engineer on projects, which may involve plan/specification, design/assist, and/or design/build initiatives.
  • Design Review: Review and recommend design modifications as necessary to ensure project success.
  • Collaboration: Partner with internal teams, including Project Management, Field, Estimating, and Prefabrication to ensure cost-effective designs that facilitate timely field installation and resolve potential design or installation challenges before construction.
  • Documentation: Oversee the generation of construction documents, including schematic diagrams, to outline the electrical scope of work an assess its interaction with other installations.

KEY COMPETENCIES:

  • Software Proficiency: Utilize software tools such as Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks to adapt or generate project-specific documents.
  • Electrical Design: Demonstrate proficiency in designing one-line diagrams, distribution equipment sizing, lighting layouts, circuiting, lighting control systems, and conduit/wire sizing.
  • BIM Familiarity: Be familiar with Building Information Modeling (BIM) principles.
  • Value Engineering: Understand and apply value engineering principles.
  • Code Compliance: Be familiar with the National Electric Code (NEC) and have the capacity to research and apply local building and energy codes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Team-oriented mindset, with prior management experience.
  • Readiness to tackle large-scale projects.
  • Willingness to travel if needed for the duration of projects; based in the Midwest
  • Prior experience in electrical contracting is a plus.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License - preferred
