Paws for Purple Hearts, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is dedicated to improving the lives of America’s Warriors facing mobility challenges and trauma-related conditions such as PTSD, TBI & MST by providing the highest quality service dogs and canine-assisted therapeutic programs, is seeking a talented candidate to add to its operating budget of $10 million annually and continued annual growth. This is a full-time position that reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer. The position is based out of our Canyonville, Oregon facility.
This position requires an individual who is independent, detail oriented, organized, and efficient. The Bookkeeper will be the person responsible for the daily full cycle financial transactions and entries for multi-state staff and facilities across the nation. The Bookkeeper will need to be self-driven, aware of deadlines, and have an eye for accuracy to maintain the company books. The bookkeeper plays a crucial role in our organization.
Familiarity with the QuickBooks Online, Google Drive, and Excel/Sheets platform will be necessary. The Bookkeeper will be trained to use these daily.

Responsibilities
1. Help maintain, implement and report PPH’s bookkeeping and financial efforts with overall fiscal administration of bookkeeping system.
2. Ensure that the monthly close of all PPH’s bookkeeping occurs in a timely and routine schedule as well as meeting deadlines of ad-hoc projects.
3. Assist in payroll back-up and close communication with Bergin College of Canine Studies’ financial fees.
4. Maintain proper recordkeeping of financial files each fiscal year and adhere to GAAP; assist in annual audits.
5. Assist in renewals of annual insurance policies with our insurance broker
6. Work together on company employee handbook maintenance with the Payroll/HR Specialist
Duties
a. Full Cycle Accounts payable- PO processing, bill coding entries, printing checks. W-9 collection and entries for 1099 Distribution.
b. Multi-State Deposit entries, Setting up and entering automatic payments, online payments, and automatic deposits
c. Credit card Expense entries and payments used by staff across the nation
d. Reconciliation of all Balance Sheet Accounts
e. Fixed assets entries, depreciation journal entries; maintaining fixed asset schedule to the general ledger; tracking disposals, additions.
f. Enter investment account entries. Stocks, CDs, Mutual Funds, etc.
g. Enter third-party fundraising company (FRS) bank statements for P&L and Balance Sheet Reports.
h. Enter non-monetary donations from all sites.
i. Grant financial reporting; tracking. Federal Gov, States, local levels.
j. Balancing subsidiary accounts by reconciling entries
k. Assist in annual audits
l. Multi-Site Budget Preparation and tracking.
