The General Laborer provides ancillary support to scale house, equipment operators and management primarily in the form of manual labor. The role is non-supervisory and receives direct instruction from the management team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manual labor, including but not limited to,
• Maintenance of equipment,
• Moving pumps and hoses,
• Heavy lifting to relocate equipment & other items,
• General housekeeping of the facility (interior & exterior)
• Landscaping (debris removal, dust control)
• Unloading vehicles
• Routine fueling & servicing of equipment & machinery.
• Cross train on equipment and machinery.
• Direct site traffic when necessary.
• Support other staff as needed, including absences due to illness, vacation, or other leave.
• Comply with all facility plans, policies and procedures at all times.
• Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Knowledge, skill and ability in the maintenance and servicing of the equipment and machinery.
• Ability to complete all tasks & responsibilities as assigned with limited supervision.
• Ability to carry out written or oral instructions.
• A valid driver's license.
• Ability to quickly learn new skills, such as safe equipment operation.
• Exhibit a high level of initiative, work performance and responsibility in the operation of equipment and the performance of duties.

COMMUNICATIONS/INTERACTIONS:

• Daily interaction with management and staff in the execution of his/her duties.
• Limited interaction with vendors, customers and/or other contractors.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• All work is performed on-site at a 24/7 operating landfill, in wide ranging climatic conditions.
• Risk of exposure to dust, and potentially toxic materials.
• Must wear all assigned personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain same in proper condition for use.
• The position may require occasional overtime or irregular hours on short notice.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

The successful candidate will be required to pass a drug screen, background check, and physical exam after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.
