The Role You Play

The Director of Therapy Services is responsible for managing the operations of the Therapy Services program throughout our 10-county service area. They will ensure viable, consistent, continuous, and timely service throughout. In addition, the Director is responsible for setting the supervisory tone for therapy staff across the agency, and ensuring that services and staff meet Pawnee’s vision.

  • Essential Responsibilities
    1. Provide and direct essential training to meet the needs of the therapy program.
    2. Hire, supervise, and evaluate supervisors who fall under the Therapy Services Program.
    3. Maintain an appropriate staffing level that meets the needs of the program as well as the financial plan of the agency.
    4. Plan, prepare and manage a budget that balances the needs of the therapy program with the financial objectives of Pawnee Mental Health Services. Part of this is ensuring that client care expectations are being met for the program. Provide support and direction to the supervisors to hold their staff accountable for their expectations and take appropriate action to ensure compliance as necessary.
    5. Oversee and participate in the development of specialized clinical services offered through the therapy program.
    6. Work cooperatively with administrative program directors and other clinical program directors and their staff.
    7. Develop, monitor and review strategic plans for the therapy program based upon community and client needs, within regulatory standards, and work toward their completion.
    8. Develop and monitor outcome measures for the therapy program and clients.
    9. Participate in the evaluation of admissions and discharges to and from the therapy program.
    10. Oversee progress of all therapy staff toward meeting documentation expectations and take appropriate action to ensure compliance as necessary.
    11. Actively lead and/or participate in meetings, committees and work groups as required.
    12. Provide leadership and serve as a member of local, state or agency committees and work groups as assigned. Serve as liaison with state and local mental health, health care, school districts, and social services organizations related to Therapy Services.
    13. Develop, refine and review policies and procedures related to all activities of therapy and present to Management Team for approval.
    14. Manage grant and funding issues for therapy programs.
    15. Provide reports, information and data concerning therapy activities as requested. Monitor and assist as needed in audits or reviews performed internally and by outside agencies.

Who You Are

The ideal candidate is an experienced manager with a vision and drive to match Pawnee’s upcoming development as an organization. They should have a drive to ensure excellent services are provided to our clients, and the management know-how necessary to make that happen.

  • Required
    1. Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling, or closely related clinical field.
    2. Licensed or able to be licensed to practice independently by the State of Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board (BSRB) and be a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) in the State of Kansas.
    3. 5 years direct experience working in the behavioral health care field.
    4. 3 years management or supervisory experience.
    5. Strong oral and written communication skills using the English language.
    6. Basic personal computer skills.
  • Preferred
    1. Experience with Microsoft Office software.
