Job Summary
The SeniorElectrical Engineer will have a strong technical background in substation project andcontrols in a high or medium voltage environment to support our Energy team in meeting the needs of our impressive list of private clients. This Engineer will play a key role in leading efforts to ensure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time and within budget. 
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform advanced professional engineering in connection with major or complex engineering projects and/or multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Complete challenging engineering computations, analysis, and lead designs fromconception to completion
    • Prepare design packages utilizing QA/QC policy and all applicable client standard andcode requirements.
  • Prepare and oversee the preparation of engineering plans, specifications, and costs forprojects
    • Plan, schedule, and coordinate work.
    • Assist with scope development and prepare cost estimate of new work.
    • Interface with clients and develop proposals for service.
    • Review shop drawings and other vendor documentation for conformity withspecifications and prepare technical reports.
  • Lead, plan, train, and supervise the work of engineering staff; verify the work for accuracy,proper work methods, techniques, and compliance with applicable standards andspecifications.
    • Provide technical expertise for discipline and serve as mentor/coach for engineeringteam.
    • Manage and mentor junior engineers and support their development.
    • Provide support with coordination of workload and setting priorities for projectswithin team.
  • Perform independent reviews of work performed by others including calculations anddrawing preparation
    • Review and help to ensure production and quality standards are achieved by junior team members.
    • Responsible for sealing of plans or other legal/official documents.
  • Work cross-collaboratively and serve as lead in the coordination of detailed design phases forall aspects of engineering work.
  • Perform and/or review field survey work and evaluate collected data; assist with field engineering support and inspections as needed.
  • Observe safety and security procedures; report potentially unsafe conditions and useequipment and materials properly. 
Professional Requirements 
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or EIT and actively pursuing PE.
  • 7 years of experienceindependently planning, performing, and coordinating advancedlevel professional and technical engineering studies, computations, drawings, reports, and surveys.
  • Strong experience in substation protection and controls as well as setting and programming relays.
  • Strong ability to organize, supervise, and evaluate the technical work of staff and project engineers.
  • Ability to suggest alternative solutions to client problems and resolve complex challenges.
  • Ability to exercise independent initiative and judgement in setting and implementing engineering goals and providing guidance to team’s understanding of quality.
  • Advanced knowledge of design techniques and tools in the production of technical plans, drawings, and models. Experience leading an engineering team through all phases of a project design.
  • Working knowledge of computer-aided design software and other PC software packages typically associated with engineering required (i.e. AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.) and a proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Commissioning experience a plus

  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Up to 20% travel (i.e. job sites) may be required based upon business need
