Pathway Caring for Children is Hiring a School-Based Licensed Children's Mental Health Counselor Near Massillon, OH

Location: Fairless Local Schools, Navarre, OH

Job Type: Full-time

About Pathway Position:

Our school-based therapists will be part of a team of 5 therapists and case managers that are currently on site, in the school every day. They are part of school meetings and schedules and can engage with students where and when they need it.

We help your child become successful in school, at home, and in the community. By bridging the academic and mental health worlds, we provide support and encouragement and address challenges as they arise during the school day. These include:

· Anxiety/mood issues

· Divorce/family issues

· Attention issues

· Low self-esteem

· Behavioral problems

· Past trauma

· Depression

· Social/peer relationships


Job Description:

We are seeking a licensed children's mental health counselor to join our school-based mental health team. As a counselor, you will work directly with students, providing individual and group therapy sessions to address various mental health challenges that may impact their academic success and overall well-being. You will collaborate closely with teachers, administrators, and other school personnel to support the social-emotional development of our students and create a positive and inclusive school environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct intake assessments and develop treatment plans tailored to each student's needs.
  • Provide evidence-based therapy interventions to address issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, behavioral difficulties, and social skills development.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, counselors, and other school staff to implement interventions and accommodations that support students' mental health needs in the classroom.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support as needed for students experiencing emotional distress or behavioral crises.
  • Serve as a resource for parents/guardians, offering guidance and support to help them navigate their child's mental health challenges.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and collaborate with community partners to enhance support services for students and families.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or related field.
  • Current State of Ohio Licensure as a LSW, LPC, LISW, LPCC
  • Experience working with children and adolescents in a mental health or school setting.
  • Knowledge of school-based counseling practices and familiarity with relevant laws and regulations (e.g., IDEA, 504 plans).
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a school-based team.
  • Commitment to promoting equity and inclusion and addressing the unique needs of diverse student populations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in play therapy, family therapy, or other specialized modalities for working with children.
  • Experience providing counseling services within a school setting.
