Overview

To administer, maintain, and support PHC’s complex and critical server farm, a mixed infrastructure containing Windows. Responsible for server farms’ uptime, production maintenance, rollout of new servers, and other critical deployments. Responsible for assisting in the support of PHC’s server applications, web servers, database servers, fax server, VOIP infrastructure, and other application servers, as determined by the Director of Network Operations. Responsible for administering the VOIP phone system and all attached devices in a lead role. Assist senior team members with network, related hardware devices, and other functions. Responsible for PHC’s production network uptime and assist senior team members on heterogeneous servers backup and restores. Develop policies and procedures for various complex server operational procedures and maintain them. Practice systems change management procedures. Work with Operations and other IT staff to resolve server / network/ application problems on priority basis. Reports directly to the Director of Network Operations.

Responsibilities

• Build and rollout of servers from ground up – using Windows 2003/2008/R2 and Linux distributions. Experience with hardware RAID arrays and other server hardware configurations, performance tuning is a must.
• Assist senior team members with centralized patch management, software distribution using SMS or group policies.
• Administer of Exchange 2007 Exchange Server.
• Administer of Windows Server Farm.
• Familiarity with the virtualization software and ability to manage all aspects of virtual server, desktop, and application creation and administration.
• Management of Email firewall, anti SPAM software, and all messaging security.
• Troubleshooting windows server connectivity, windows startup issues, Interoperability issues with Linux/Unix.
• LAN connectivity troubleshooting with various switching protocols, layer 3, 4 switching.
• WAN connectivity in troubleshooting T1 and other Internet connections issues.
• Lead and mentor junior staff members.

SECONDARY DUTIES

• Backup for the Lead on Netbackup administration and become experienced with all versions and patches of Netbackup.
• Must provide and carry a cell phone and be available for consult or assistance when needed 24 hours a day/7 days a week.
• Assist senior team members when requested or required. Also assist service desk with daily tasks, as required.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Business related field or equivalent experience. Two (2) years of network administration experience. Managed care or practice management experience a plus.

Special Skills, Licenses and Certifications

Two (2) years experience with Windows 2003/2008 server Active directory network in a production server farm with DHCP/DNS/WINS servers. Knowledge of NFS, FTP, NTP, SMTP, interoperability, and system administration. One (1) year experience in managing network backup with storage networking– SAN, NAS, and DAS. Experience with Windows 2008 R2 DFS, connectivity between multiple DFS roots and data synchronization.

One (1) year working experience with Cisco routers and appliance firewalls. Willingness to learn TCP/IP network protocols, sub netting, routing, and IP architecture. Work experience with large data centers, server hardware, and related certifications is a big plus. Microsoft, Cisco and Linux/security certifications preferred, not a mandate. Lead on VOIP is a must. Candidate must be a team player, willing to work on an on-call basis to accommodate production environment demands. Willing to lead and mentor more junior staff members and take direction on projects from Director of Network Operations and other senior team members. Valid California driver’s license and proof of current automobile insurance compliant with PHC policy are required to operate a vehicle and travel for company business.

Performance Based Competencies

Ability to quickly acquire in-depth knowledge of AMISYS software and managed care issues. Strong written and oral communication skills with ability to interpret and understand technical requirements. Excellent analytical skills to troubleshoot and resolve systems problems.

Work Environment And Physical Demands

More than 80% of work time is spent in front of a computer monitor. May be required to lift, carry, or move equipment of varying size, weighing up to 50 lbs. May be required to bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, or work in other non-standing and non-sitting positions to install cabling, systems hardware, and other related equipment.
