 This position is for U if you have previous underwriting experience, an understanding of credit reports, a positive attitude, the ability to work well under pressure, are a team player, and are able to work at our Directors Row location, Fort Wayne, IN, full-time, 40 hrs/wk, with a varying schedule of:

Mon-Fri: 8:30am-5:00pm, 9:30am-6:00pm, or 10:30am-7:00pm, & rotating Sat: 9:30am-6:00pm 

Role

Serves as the primary centralized lending officer for consumer loan decisions. Receives and evaluates customer loan requests. Acts as a resource for information regarding loan decisions, customer loan inquiries, and company lending products and services. Responsible to grant or deny loans within limits assigned and to provide the highest quality of service to customers. Attempts to maximize the number of service relationships the customer has with the organization. Often called consumer loan officer.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

35% Receives customer loan requests from frontline staff and dealerships evaluates and underwrites loan requests using judgment and discretion in making decisions to satisfy the customer needs. Loans outside of guidelines or approval parameters are escalated to the AVP of Underwriting, Indirect Lending Manager or SVP of Lending with a recommendation as to the loan decision for each loan.

25% Responsible for communicating loan decisions to frontline staff and dealership staff the ability to discuss loan denials, loan alternatives and rate computation in a clear, concise and courteous manner.

15% Completes and mails adverse action notice on all declined loan applications.

10% Evaluates credit bureau reports, income documentation, collateral valuation reports, title information, and other factors relevant to the underwriting of consumer loans.

10% Performs other duties as assigned.

5% Recommends alterations or revisions to department policies and procedures as needed.

Must comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

Requirements

Knowledge and Skills

EXPERIENCE

2-5 years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience Two to Five years of similar or related experience, including time spent in preparatory positions.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

A 2-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school requiring approximately 64 credit hours or equivalent on-the-job training. A high school degree or GED is required.

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS

A significant level of trust, credibility and diplomacy is required. In-depth dialogue, conversations and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors can be of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature. Communications may involve motivating, influencing, educating and/or advising others on matters of significance. Typically includes subject matter experts as well as first level to middle managers. Courtesy and tact are essential elements of the job. Work involves personal contact with customers and others inside and outside the organization, generally regarding fairly routine matters for the purposes of giving and obtaining information or instructions, updating or referring. Communications generally require shorter and not in-depth discussions.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise. This position has the ability to do work remotely. Must follow remote work agreement.

Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
