Parkview enrolls children ages two through five years old in the Midtown-area of Indianapolis, Indiana. Applicants must be comfortable working with children and parents in a cooperative setting that promotes a play-based curriculum enabling children to grow emotionally, intellectually, socially and physically.

Position Requirements

● Bachelor’s degree in education or related field, preferred
● Intent to commit to a minimum of two years teaching at Parkview

Schedule

  • Classes meet on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. with an additional extended day class on Mondays from 12 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.
  • The teacher helps with set up of activities before school and classroom cleanup following school
  • Classes begin the 3rd week of Aug through the 3rd week of May and typically follow the IPS break schedule, with the addition of a 2 week Spring Break

Specific Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, execute, and supervise all educational programs for the Turtle class (12 students)
  • Educate, involve, and support the two participating coop adults who will assist in each class
  • Participate in classroom set-up, school kick-off, parent/teacher conferences, and school wide events and fundraisers
  • Attend monthly teacher meetings for planning, coordinating, and reviewing curriculum and related activities
  • Attend at least two teacher study groups and one teacher evaluation annually
  • Participate in the (Parkview’s governing body) teacher observation program
  • Attend at least two of Parkview’s member meetings per year
  • Complete a twenty minute “meet the teacher” home visit with each student prior to the first day of school
  • Conduct mid-year parent/teacher conferences
  • Conduct an end of the year student evaluation with a written report
  • Complete the ICPC program for new teachers if applicable
  • Follow all rules and regulations as outlined in Parkview’s handbook and bylaws
  • Comply with all Parkview and ICPC requirements for teachers such as CPR and First Aid certification, TB testing, and a background check

Compensation and Details:

● Compensation commensurate with experience which is approximately $10,000-11,500 per school year.
● Compliance with all Parkview and ICPC requirements for teachers such as CPR and First Aid certification, TB testing and background checks is required.
