Teachers plan and implement The Weston School curriculum which promotes the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of every child. Teachers focus on instructing developmentally appropriate skills; emphasizing and teaching all the skills necessary for long term kindergarten preparedness.

Physical Job Requirements

  • Able to lift 50 lbs unassisted
  • Able to stand for long periods of time, sit on the floor, crawl, squat, and stoop
  • Able to verbally communicate proficiently, and has conventional hearing abilities.
  • Able to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls. Able to reach with hands and arms
  • Must be able to see near and far off, have color perception, and ability to adjust one's focus.
  • Duties may require travel to other locations and/or company events which may be outside and require exposure to extreme temperatures.
  • Required to help with cleaning duties which may include sweeping, shoveling, salting, or removal of trash.

Classroom Responsibilities

Success in School

  • Creates weekly lesson plans teaching developmentally appropriate skills such as colors, shapes, numbers and letter recognition; personal hygiene; and physical development. Learning activities may include arts and crafts, music, storytelling, group reading, and field trips. Creates a dynamic environment where play and learning go together.
  • Ensures that the weekly lesson plans and teaching are in alignment with the assessment goals for the classroom.
  • Provides a variety of materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate, and use; both in learning activities and in imaginative play.
  • Promotes opportunities for students to observe, question, and investigate.
  • Observes and evaluates each student’s academic growth and performance; ensures progress and advancement in each student’s intellectual ability. Meets with supervisors to discuss students showing signs of concern or special needs in the classroom.
  • Maintain student’s portfolios according to company standards and requirements.
  • Welcomes both the parents and students each day, with a positive attitude. Builds good communication and rapport with the parents.
  • Conducts bi-annual parent teacher conferences, discussing the student’s current success and future goals going into the next semester.
  • Recognizes and observes IN State guidelines and procedures, CACFP guidelines and procedures, and Paths to Quality guidelines and procedures for their respective classroom.
  • Understands and adheres to the company’s policies and use of the communication platform via the use of tablets and or any other communication device provided.
  • Responsible for keeping their classroom, cubbies, bathrooms, and cabinets clean and organized. Making sure their classrooms are tour ready at all times.
  • Makes sure the classroom has the necessary supplies needed on any given day.

  • Builds a nurturing and caring relationship with each student in the classroom; supports each student's emotional development and provides an environment of positive teaching and discipline.
  • Constantly strives to improve each student's self confidence. Works to identify each student’s individual strengths.
  • Encourages all students to participate and engage with classroom peers; works to enhance each student’s developmentally appropriate social skills.

Non- Classroom Responsibilities

  • Must attend scheduled staff meetings and parent engagement programs.
  • Can accept supervision and direction with a positive attitude.
  • Must have the ability to build positive relationships with families and coworkers.
  • Must be adaptable, flexible thinking, and able to multitask.
  • Must be able to understand and adhere to all company policies and procedures.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
