Job Summary and Qualifications

The Emergency Department Manager assists the Director with all department activity to assure a coordinated effort in fulfilling department responsibilities with the long-range plan, mission, vision, and values of the hospital. Assist in coordinating the department’s participation in Performance Improvement activities to assure continuous Quality Improvement. Ensures that nursing care is based on the nursing process and evaluates the effectiveness on an ongoing basis. Provides clinical support to the nursing staff.

What you will do in this role:

• Your role demonstrates the ability to perform specific competencies as listed on the competency validation checklist(s).
• Your role meets mutually-agreed upon performance goals/objectives established annually as listed on the Performance Management Plan.
• Your position requires 24 hour accountability.
• You will ensure accurate staffing in electronic facility scheduling program.
• You will ensure payroll is up to date and meets designated payroll deadlines.
• Your role assists with departmental financial performance.
• Your role assists with ensuring customer needs are met (staff, M.D., patient, etc.).
• Your role ensures the privacy of our patients and confidentiality of their Protected Health Information (PHI).
• You will assist with maintaining an environment that promotes patient safety.
• You will actively seek ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care or the services delivered.
• Your role demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system and reports trends in occurrences to staff, quarterly. This information is used to improve patient safety.
• You will assist with ensuring that staff is educated on established guidelines for reporting a significant medical error or unanticipated outcome in the patient’s care which results in patient harm.
• You will attend and ensure staff attendance at in-service presentations, and completes mandatory education, including, but not limited to, infection control, patient safety, quality improvement, MSDS and OSHA standards.
• You will assist with addressing patient safety in the Performance Improvement Plan.
• Your role will be located at the Free-Standing Emergency Room in Soddy Daisy.

What qualifications you will need:

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing, Bachelor's required
• Current Licensure with the Tennessee Board of Nursing.
• CEN certifications preferred.
• 2 years of experience preferred.
• Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 lbs.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course emust be obtained within 60 days of employment start date
• Neonate Resuscitate must be obtained within 60 days of employment start date
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
• PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
• Trauma Nursing Core Course must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date

Parkridge Medical Center is a 270 bed hospital. We are near downtown Chattanooga. We feature comprehensive diagnostic, medical, and surgical services. These services include cardiovascular surgery and cancer treatment. These services include intensive care, orthopedic and spine surgery, and rehabilitation. The facility includes a state of the art neurosurgery program. Patients also have access to OB-GYN services. Patients have access to a level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. They also have access to (NICU) and behavioral health treatment centers for children and adults.
