Position Title: Summer Student – Finance, Middle Office (4-Month Term)

Position Summary:

The Finance Summer Student is responsible for providing exceptional support to the Middle Office team in the financial department of Parkland, for the 4-month term. As a member of the Middle Office function, you will assist with the day-to-day activities including identifying and evaluating risks while assessing contracts, oversight of commodity risk reporting, and well as managing counterparty credit risk. The summer student will also be responsible for providing support on special projects as assigned.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conducting risk assessments of contracts.
• Providing insight in the reporting of commodity risks.
• Performing credit analysis on counterparties to establish risk ratings.
• Perform other job-related duties as requested.

Qualifications and Skills:

• You are available for a 4-month term beginning on or around May 2022.
• You are currently enrolled at a US post-secondary institution working towards a bachelor’s degree in Business with a focus on Finance, or Accounting; and are ideally a Junior or Senior; candidates with an interest in supply and trading would be preferred.
• You have exceptional interpersonal skills and possess natural leadership as demonstrated in academic and/or extracurricular activities.
• You have highly developed verbal and written communication skills to enable you to thrive in a challenging and exciting work environment.
• You are a creative and analytical thinker with some project management skills who is self-driven and capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
• You have tenacity and an entrepreneurial spirit, and are passionate about seeking out win-win solutions.
• You have strong MS Office skills including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.

You will be part of a global team and must be able to work effectively through a high degree of collaboration and communication through in-person meetings and video conferences.
