Position Summary

POSITION SUMMARY:

Manages the direction and daily activities of the Divisions procurement of raw materials, parts, equipment and operating supplies required for production of the Divisions products. Responsible for embracing and driving lean enterprises systems throughout the procurement process.

Position will directly report to the Division Supply Chain Manager. Will interact with all levels of Division management; including operational, engineering, quality control, marketing and finance. May supervise the Sourcing/Commodity Manager, Sourcing Specialist, and Buyer. Key supplier and key customer contact required.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Plans and direct the activities of the Division's purchases of raw materials, supplies, equipment or services. Identifies raw material requirements from production specifications, operational schedules and engineering quality requirements. Determines the most cost efficient and reliable materials needed for the manufacturing process.
  • Establishes preferred supplier selection criteria based on supplier evaluations of price, quality, delivery, certifications, and compliance with governmental procurement regulations. Promotes and uses strategic suppliers.
  • Interviews, selects and negotiates with suppliers in response to material requirements/cost issues. Establishes procedures to leverage the company's position. Ensures purchasing strategy reflects the consistent utilization of local suppliers vs. Group strategic suppliers.
  • Works with suppliers to develop and manage continuous improvement programs, addressing quality, delivery, service as well as price.
  • Develops standard/automated re-order procedures. Develops crisis management and supplier backup contingency programs.
  • Develops and benchmarks best practices among the Divisions suppliers and maintain accurate measurements and records for evaluation of suppliers.
  • Ensures purchases and capital expenditures are consistent with Division strategies and within department budgets
  • Responsible for integrating the Division with electronic interfacing throughout the purchasing function.
  • Work collaboratively with division supply chain team to reduce chronic shortages and systematic issues within the supply base.
  • Leads Cross Functional HPT to create Work Transfer velocity.
  • Provides oversight and leadership to division/contract field resources in support of the objectives of the cross functional HPT.
  • Represent the division and collaborate with peers at other divisions and group.
  • Proactively work with Division Supply Chain Team to seek out continuous improvement opportunities
  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills thru engaging suppliers and peers to achieve common goals.
  • Collaborates with the business unit or division to establish preferred supplier selection criteria based on evaluations of supplier price, quality, delivery, certifications, and compliance with governmental procurement regulations.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of the relevant manufacturing, quality or operations support function that would typically be
  • obtained through a Bachelor's degree in a manufacturing-related business or technical discipline, and eight or more years of progressive experience within the specialty area. Demonstrated ability to perform the described role and responsibilities and obtain the desired results. Certification or a professional designation in a specialty area may be required or preferred depending on position requirements.
  • Four or more years of increasing responsibility for leadership within manufacturing operations requiring
  • advanced project planning and team organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and team building skills in producing results and meeting organizational objectives. Capable of assessing and developing individual and team skills and capabilities. Able to create and maintain enthusiasm for new and challenging goals. Serve as a role model by promoting new ideas and positive change.
  • Thorough understanding of production technology, and/or specialty support areas including broad knowledge of business and regulatory environments and trends.
  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% of time.

Closing Statement

Please note that the salary range information is only applicable for California. Compensation is based on a variety of factors, candidate experience, qualifications, location as well as market and business considerations. Pay Range: $113,579/annually to $198,823/annually.

This role is subject to compliance with the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), which requires the incumbent to be either a US citizen, lawful permanent resident [“green card” holders], or have refugee or asylee status).
