Modern Machinery is Hiring an Environmental, Health & Safety Specialist Near Kent, WA

Job Description
Modern Machinery is seeking an experienced Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will collaborate with the EHS Department to develop, implement, and enforce safety policies and procedures across our twelve branches. As an EHS Specialist, you will provide guidance and support to branch operations on all matters related to environmental health and safety. The annual salary range for this position is: $80,000 to $100,000. This is an exempt position and is not eligible for overtime pay.
Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate Modern Machinery's core values and promote the mission and vision of the company.
  • Ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and corporate EHS policies and regulations
  • Participate in safety meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance, identify, and support corrective action plans, and implement follow up assessments.
  • Coordinates new hire orientation, safety, and compliance training programs for locations of responsibility.
  • Plans, implements, and maintains comprehensive EHS programs at locations.
  • Provides support with top-down guidance on EHS and confirm locations fulfill industry, local, state, and federal guidelines, and regulations.
  • Provides technical support to EHS projects.
  • Provides regular location safety presence during safety audits, pre-shift meetings, safety meetings, and other areas as assigned.
  • Conducts investigation of incidents, injuries, and near misses, and maintain the proper documentation to determine the root cause and communicate findings.
  • Participate/lead in continuous improvement opportunities in work practices and work conditions.
  • Assists with the development and maintenance of proactive safety programs.
  • Assists Management and Supervision to implement and maintain compliance with PPE programs.
  • Supports local employee medical monitoring and drug testing programs.
  • Lead local Industrial Hygiene monitoring.
  • Leads local training programs and ensure that all employees receive appropriate safety training.
  • Conduct site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
  • Stay up to date on the latest safety regulations and standards.
  • Performs all other safety-related work as directed.

Qualifications
Job Requirements/Skills:
  • Must have experience in risk assessment / management.
  • Must be comfortable with public speaking.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written skills.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office 365 products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Experience with Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint is required.
  • Must have demonstratable problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Must have high quality organization and document management skills.
  • Must be adaptive to technological changes as they are implemented.
  • Must have ability to work well with others.
  • Must comply with all Modern Machinery EHS policies and procedures.
  • Some travel will be required.
Education/Experience:
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety or related field is desired, but equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Two or more years of demonstrated occupational safety work experience is required.
