Job Title: Service Manager

Reports to: Branch Manager
Travel: Minimal

POSITION SUMMARY:
Modern Machinery is seeking a qualified individual for the position of Heavy Equipment Service Manager for our Kent, WA branch. As the Service Manager, you will manage the day-to-day service operations and maintain compliant with all company policies, with safety as our #1 focus. Interact with all employees, customers, and vendors in a professional manner; and train service personnel within the company.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate Modern Machinery’s core values and promote the mission and vision of the company
  • Follow all company policies, processes, and procedures. Exercise safe work practices to contribute to the achievement of the company's safety goals.
  • Monitor daily Service Department operations
  • Control and evaluate department P&L, including capital expenditures
  • Prepare bids and have oversight of quotes for repairs and maintenance work in a timely manner
  • Monitor shop and field jobs including closing all work orders in a timely manner
  • Review and evaluate all work orders for accuracy
  • The company goal is to close all work orders within seven (7) days from the last date of labor
  • Review all timecards daily and approve bi-weekly payroll reports
  • Approve all Service Department personnel’s paid time off (PTO) requests and time away from work while maintaining an adequate workforce for customer support
  • Provide quality customer service; build relationships, develop repeat business, and customer satisfaction
  • Negotiate and settle customer disputes both internally and externally
  • Promote a strong safety culture
  • Hold monthly shop and quarterly safety committee meetings
  • Maintain a safe working environment in compliance with Federal, State and Local regulations, including DOT, MSHA, and OSHA
  • Maintain environmental compliance with all City, State, and Federal agencies
  • Interact with other Service Department employees and promote a team atmosphere with Sales, Parts, and Corporate employees
  • Maintain a positive workplace
  • Handle all employee issues – hiring, discipline, terminations and department meetings.
  • Always following company policies and procedures
  • Monitor and schedule for Technician’s for training to maintain current with technology
  • Meet with Branch Manager and Corporate Service Manager regularly to review the status of the Service Department
  • Other duties as assigned and directed by the Branch Manager and Corporate Service Manager

Job Requirements/Experience:

  • Strong customer focus and commitment to customer satisfaction.
  • Personal accountability and self-management to prioritize and complete all tasks required of the position.
  • Teamwork: cooperate and support others within Modern Machinery and within a customer’s organization.
  • 4-year technical degree or equivalent experience in this position including a minimum 5 to 10 years previous heavy machinery maintenance and/or management experience
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Customer service experience and sound judgment is a must
  • Strong computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with business software, preferably Oracle Enterprise One
