Summary: The Golf Course Maintenance I - Spray Technician position will perform golf maintenance, repair, and other related activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Landscaping:
  • Mowing and trimming of turf, as well as pesticide and fertilizer application.
  • Maintenance of flower and shrub beds.
  • Trimming, pruning, and removal of trees and shrubs; keeping and updating tree and shrub removal records.
  • Assisting in the planning and design of flower and shrub beds; recommend shrubs, trees, annuals, perennials, and spring bulbs for golf use.
• Inspect job sites to obtain performance evaluation or work.
• Prepare and keep records of golf course operations.
• Report on progress and make maintenance recommendations.
• Inspect all buildings.
• Maintain an effective working relationship with subordinates and the public.
• Complete and submit accident reports and other work related Park District forms, as required.
• Will be required to work at other facilities during the months of December, January and February.
• Perform other related Park District duties as required or assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position will have no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience: Considerable knowledge in the areas of landscape maintenance and horticulture as well as tools, materials, and equipment required. The Golf Course Maintenance I - Spray Technician must be, at minimum, a high school graduate with post high school course work in horticulture, arboriculture or a related field. Working experience is preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Pesticide Operators License (testing must occur during the Introductory Period)

Schedule: Typically, Monday through Friday with nights and weekends required as needed.

Classification: Full-Time, non-exempt
