Description

Summary: Under the direction of the Manager of Aquatics, the Aquatics Supervisor - Lakefront is responsible for assisting in the organizational planning, coordinating and implementation of operational and aquatic program planning at Lakefront Properties. The Aquatics Supervisor Lakefront will work collaboratively with the Aquatics Supervisor - Programs and be responsible for cross training staff to work all applicable Aquatics operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Year-round recruitment, hiring, training, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating of lakefront staff to include seasonal, part-time, and full-time staff.
  • Prepares, reviews, and makes recommendations on operating policies and procedures for aquatics operations.
  • Acts as the liaison for the police department, police aides, boating community and lakefront users during the lakefront season.
  • Conducts regular certification and in-service trainings for all Aquatics staff; maintains accurate records of training dates, agendas, attendance, and staff certifications.
  • In collaboration with the Aquatics Manager, Parks Operations Manager, and Facility Maintenance Manager, monitors the maintenance of each lakefront property, including facility and grounds; makes recommendations for improvements.
  • Monitors weather and nautical conditions and uses information to recommended operational status to the Aquatics Manager, as well as to advise users accordingly in the interest of public safety.
  • Works with the Aquatics Manager to prepare, monitor, and evaluate budgets for lakefront operations.
  • Responsible for working with the Aquatics staff in the development, implementation, and ongoing supervision of customer service standards for all staff to ensure a high level of customer service.
  • Completes all required paperwork and accurately review and approval of Aquatics staff payroll.
  • Oversees applicable lakefront programs and facilitates Special Events at Rosewood Beach.
  • Collaborates with Aquatics Supervisor-Programs on programs at the Recreation Center Indoor Pool September-May.
  • Supports the Swim Lesson Program at the indoor pool during the fall, winter, and spring sessions.
  • Prepares pre-season, post-season and monthly Board Reports, and contributes to monthly variance reports.
  • Assists with the seasonal facility start-up and closure procedures at Rosewood Beach and Park Avenue.
  • Responsible for the ongoing supervision of program evaluations, surveys, and other means of gathering feedback and quality control to ensure participants needs and expectations are being met.
  • Works with the Marketing & Communications Department to develop and ensure accurate information in the aquatic section of the brochure, website, electronic marketing, posters, and flyers.
  • Regularly communicates with the District Wide Rental Manager to coordinate rentals at the Yacht Club and Rosewood Beach Interpretive Center.
  • Works with the Safety Coordinator to establish and follow risk management policies to ensure compliance with PDRMA requirements.
  • Assists the Aquatics Manager with RFP's and bids, as needed.
  • Assists with providing indoor Aquatics desk coverage between the months of October and March.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: The Aquatics Supervisor Lakefront directly supervises full-time, part-time, and seasonal employees within the Aquatics area, including but not limited to seasonal supervisors, lifeguards, park ambassadors, attendants, and additional support staff as needed. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, delegating, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints, and resolving problems.

Qualifications


Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university with a degree in Business, Recreation or Sports & Exercise Facility Management; or three years of related, progressive experience in parks and recreation; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience should not be measured in time alone; quality of previous experience as well as its similarity to the needs of the current position will be a determining factor. Must have two years of management or supervisory experience. Preference given to experience in aquatics and certification as a Lifeguard. A thorough knowledge of the theory and philosophy of recreation for leisure time and the ability to interpret this philosophy to others in the form of planning, organizing and supervising programming and personnel. Ability to apply education, training, and work experience to improve performance of organization.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • American Red Cross Lifeguard (or ability to obtain within first 90 days of employment)
  • Lifeguard Instructor (or ability to obtain within first 90 days of employment)
  • Lifeguard Instructor Trainer (or ability to obtain within first 90 days of employment)
  • Valid Drivers License

Schedule: Sunday through Thursday with nights and weekends required as needed.


Classification: Full Time Exempt
