Parents Alliance Employment Project is Hiring an Employment Specialist Near Geneva, IL

Job Title: Employment Specialist

Parents Alliance Employment Project is the lead supported employment agency for the Project SEARCH program in partnership with Northwestern Medicine located at Delnor Hospital in Geneva, Illinois. The Project SEARCH program is a unique job training program in which individuals with disabilities are placed into a variety of internships throughout Northwestern Medicine Woodstock hospital so that they can learn and acquire job skills to transfer into community employment.

Parents Alliance Employment Project is seeking an Employment Specialist for the program to provide thorough vocational services to 5-6 individuals with disabilities enrolled in the program.

Primary duties of the Employment Specialist include:
-Assist the LEAD Employability Instructor in identifying internship sites within Delnor Hospital; provide disability awareness training to department managers to educate them on working with individuals with disabilities
-Assist with public relation activities to promote the Project SEARCH program/assist with and attend open houses to promote the program
-Conduct intake meetings to assess participant’s employment goals, career interests and personal job preferences to match and determine appropriate department internship placement and individual learning styles
-Provide job coaching and training to all participants in the Project SEARCH program; utilize systematic instruction to ensure job coaching consistency; learn the internship duties and make appropriate accommodations or modifications necessary to the successful independent completion of the job on behalf of the participant work site; perform specific job analysis and task analysis; assess participants on a daily basis on job skill acquisition
-Conduct job development by identifying employment opportunities in the community to secure community job placement following the completion of internships
-Assist LEAD Employability Instructor with classroom activities and instruction to teach program participants employability skills such as communication, problem solving, teamwork, grooming, mock interviewing, resume preparation, budgeting, advocacy, social skills, etc...
-Be responsible for submitting all necessary paperwork for the program required by funding sources
-Work as a team player to support the employment goals of all the Project SEARCH participants and their success

Qualifications: Educational Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Special Education, Psychology, Sociology, or related field.

Work Hours: Normal work hours are 40 hours per week; Monday-Friday 7:30am-3:30pm; however must be willing to be flexible at times to accommodate the needs of the program participants, which may include some evening and weekend hours.

Location: This position is located at Delnor Hospital in Geneva, Illinois.

Additional Information and Requirements: Ability and willingness to tolerate light physical activity to include long periods of standing and heavy amounts of walking throughout the hospital.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $42,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
