DESCRIPTION: Under the direction and supervision of the Principal or designee, the candidate will plan instruction, teach, differentiate instruction, motivate, inspire and assess elementary age students in Life Skills. The candidate will promote a high quality, personalized education program that reflects the Michigan Content Standards.
GOAL: To provide an educational atmosphere in which students will move toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and psychological growth and maturation in accordance with system philosophy, goals, and objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Teacher should have knowledge of child development at this age group. They should be knowledgeable of the prescribed curriculum and current educational research especially in this field. Having knowledge of learning styles and experience in using varied teaching methods is important in this class as more differentiation will be needed. The teacher needs to be able to plan and implement activities for maximum effectiveness, assess student achievement, and communicate to students/staff regularly. They need to maintain safe and orderly supervision so that students can learn.
