JOB TITLE: Finance Manager
REPORTS TO: Controller / Finance Director
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
LOCATION: Corporate Office (Bremerton, WA)
RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for financial input, monthly closing cycle, reporting, general ledger system, fixed assets, P-Cards. Works with the Controller and A/P Accountant to record and report all Company financial transactions. Advises the Controller and Executive team on all financial activities that affect the organization. This position is a critical part of the Accounting team and is a good fit for someone who wishes to assume increasing responsibility and have an opportunity to move up in the organization.
DUTIES:
1. Ledger maintenance, monthly and annual closing and reporting. Work with IT staff to maintain system integrity.
2. Monthly journal entries and reconciliations.
3. Responsible for company-wide fixed assets and depreciation.
4. Assists with preparation of financial information for internal and outside audits including company audit firm and contractual audits.
5. Prepares monthly and ad-hoc financial reports for management and executives to enable them to make sound financial decisions.
6. Responsible for Purchase Card program
7. Assist with budget preparation and ledger input.
8. Back up A/P accountant as needed
9. Work with site managers to ensure deadline compliance and assist them with financial and other questions as needed.
10. Updates written procedures as needed.
11. Performs other duties as directed.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY: Must understand Generally Accepted Accounting Principles especially as they relate to not-for-profit corporations. Must demonstrate consistent excellent skills in general ledger process management. Knowledge of Financial Accounting Standards related to not-for-profit and for profit corporations. Knowledge of and ability to use PC based accounting applications, worksheets and word processing; analytical and financial reporting skills and ability. Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel at the intermediate to advanced level. Must be able to effectively operate the following other software packages or their equivalent: Microsoft Dynamics SL, Sage Fxed Assets, Management Reporter, Microsoft Word.
Requires excellent customer service, interpersonal and organizational skills. Requires ability to: communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, at all levels of the organization; prioritize work; and work at a fast pace while being detail oriented and accurate. Must have good problem solving and analytical skills to gather and interpret data. Must be able to work independently, be very reliable and able to maintain confidentiality in all matters.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s. Degree in Accounting or Finance, plus a minimum of five years of progressively more responsible positions in accounting. CPA certification or intent to obtain same. Ability to effectively select and implement information management systems. Must consistently demonstrate ability to satisfactorily perform all duties and functions of the position with minimal supervision or direction. Must demonstrate tact, courtesy and good judgment when communicating with others. Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Position is performed in an office environment and is primarily sedentary. Required to sit for long periods of time working at a computer and using a telephone. Frequent reaching, grasping, writing and fingering action required. May require occasional travel, including the requirement to drive a motor vehicle and/or fly to site offices, meetings, and seminars. While driving, the employee may be exposed to hazards related to adverse weather conditions or vehicular traffic. Must be able to squat, bend and reach to perform duties such as filing. Moderate lifting, bending, twisting, crouching, squatting, and reaching may be required to access and move/lift items such as files. Must be able to lift and carry up to 15 pounds.
WAGE RANGE AND BENEFITS: Salary is $70,000 per year with an increase after six months of satisfactory performance.
