Purpose Statement
The job of CTE IT Student Information Specialist II is done for the purpose/s of assisting in the implementation of the student information systems; deploying, installing, configuring, troubleshooting and maintaining Infinite Campus; and coaching and training others.
This job reports to Vocational Education
Essential Functions
Assists in the implementation of student information systems (Infinite Campus) for the purpose of providing technical assistance, advice and support.
Coordinates installation and maintenance of programming projects with appropriate user and staff personnel (e.g. multiple platforms, multiple programming languages, network operations, etc.) for the purpose of providing technical assistance, advice and support.
Instructs others on Infinite Campus throughout the district as directed for the purpose of ensuring proper and efficient use of system.
Maintains manual and electronic documents, files and records for the purpose of providing up-to-date reference and audit trail.
Reports status and progress of assigned tasks for the purpose of ensuring the deadlines are met.
Translates detailed program specifications into computer language code for the purpose of providing technical assistance, advice and support.
Works with multiple departments within PVUSD, schools and the IT Department for the purpose of responding to inquires and/or conveying information needed to complete tasks.
Other Functions
Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: preparing and maintaining accurate records; classifying data and/or information; using pertinent software applications.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: current generation office software, Excel; codes/laws/rules/regulations/policies; student information systems Infinite Campus.
ABILITY is required to schedule activities; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; analyze data utilizing a variety of complex processes; and operate equipment using defined methods. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with data of varied types and/or purposes; and utilize specific, job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: establishing and maintaining effective working relationships; communicating with persons with diverse technical knowledge and skills; maintaining confidentiality; working with frequent interruptions; work in flexible shifts, including but not limited to evenings, nights, weekends and holidays; accuracy and attention to detail; meeting deadlines and schedules.
Responsibility
Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; utilization of some resources from other work units may be required to perform the job's functions. There is some opportunity to impact the organization’s services.
Work Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 60% sitting, 20% walking, and 20% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
Experience: Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is desired.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Equivalency: BA/BS degree in computer services or related field or certificate of completion of technical training in programming is highly desirable.
