IT Data Specialist II

Location: Information Technology 

12 Months, 8 hours/day

Non-Interim

Grade 28, $22.07/hour

Purpose Statement

The job of IT Data Specialist II is done for the purpose/s of assisting in the support of assigned, department programming and data tasks, projects and initiatives; and assisting in the support of others on design, deployment, installation, configuration, troubleshooting and maintenance of data and programmed systems throughout the district; and designing a variety of queries and reporting options.

This job reports to Director of Information Technology or Designee

Essential Functions

Assists in the support of others on design, deployment, installation, configuration, troubleshooting and maintenance of data and programmed systems throughout the district and as assigned for the purpose of providing technical assistance, advice and support.

Assists in the support of programming and data functions/systems (e.g. grade reporting, progress reports, queries for data reports, Project Read, Diebels, etc.) for the purpose of communicating systems capabilities and improving work efficiency.

Assists in the support of assigned, department programming and data tasks, projects and initiatives throughout the district for the purpose of providing technical assistance, advice and support.

Assumes the principle role &/or serve on a team with other personnel throughout the district for the purpose of embracing technical & logistical directions from/to a colleague.

Designs writes, edits and syncs data with other systems (e.g. DupCrs, youngest- oldest, Athletics sync, Innies and Outies, Naviance, eTrition, etc.) for the purpose of providing personnel with information customized to their specific needs and ensuring reliability of interfaces between software applications.

Interacts with students, employees, department staff, vendors, contractors and community for the purpose of cultivating supportive and informative relationships.

Prepares various state and internal assessment data for the purpose of importing data into Infinite Campus ensuring accessibility to assessment data results by end users.

Trains and coaches others on data programs and systems throughout the district (e.g. site staff, students, department staff, community, district administration office staff and administrators, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring their ability to use new and/or existing district technologies and information systems.

Other Functions

Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to periodically upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: preparing and maintaining accurate records; classifying data and/or information; using pertinent software applications.

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform algebra and/or geometry; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: relational databases, record structures, media input and output devices; current generation programming methodology including object based design, operating systems, protocols, and programming languages.

ABILITY is required to schedule activities; often gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; analyze data utilizing a variety of complex processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with data of varied types and/or purposes; and utilize a variety of job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data may require independent interpretation; and problem solving with equipment is moderate to significant. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: communicating with persons of varied technical knowledge and backgrounds; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships; working as part of a team; adapting to changing priorities; work in flexible shifts, including but not limited to evenings, nights, weekends and holidays; applying logical processes and analytical skills.

Responsibility

Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; utilization of resources from other work units may be required to perform the job's functions. Work Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 90% sitting, 5% walking, and 5% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.

Experience: Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
