IT Systems Engineer

Exempt Position

12 Months

Salary: $60,000

Start Date: June 5, 2023

Purpose Statement

The job of IT Systems Engineer I is done for the purpose/s of installing, operating and optimizing district systems such as: communication, output, security, credentials, etc., and provide district support.

This job reports to Director of Information Technology or Designee

Essential Functions

Installation, configuration and administration of district systems. Said systems will include but not be limited to; GAFE, Uniflow, AD, etc..

Implements and advances procedures for complex problem solving of said systems.

Implements and advances new and emerging technologies for the purpose of meeting department needs.

Assumes lead, co-lead and/or as a team member for purpose of carrying out duties on behalf of the department.

Integrates said systems and information technologies in all environments throughout all locations where the district has an identified business need for the purpose of improving work efficiency and effectiveness.

Interacts with any and all district stakeholders for the purpose of providing excellent customer service, cultivating supportive and informative relationships and training.

Responds to inquiries for the purpose of providing technical assistance and support.

Supports the coaching of said systems and technology use everywhere the district has an identified business need for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective use of district information technologies.

Supports all technology tasks, projects and initiatives everywhere the district has an identified business need for the purpose of providing direction, advice and support.

Other Functions

Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to routinely upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: utilizing pertinent network, application, operating system monitoring and troubleshooting software and systems; adhering to safety practices; planning and managing projects; preparing and maintaining accurate records.

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform algebra and/or geometry; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: background in the specific systems of GAFE, UniFlow and AD, current, legacy and emerging operating systems; environments and network protocols; router configurations; Inter/Intranet applications; concepts of grammar and punctuation.

ABILITY is required to schedule activities and/or meetings; gather and/or collate data; and consider a number of factors when using equipment. Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes; and utilize equipment under a variety of conditions for multiple purposes. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with data of varied types and/or purposes; and utilize a wide variety of types of job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data may require independent interpretation; and problem solving with equipment is moderate to significant. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: setting priorities; establishing effective relationships; being attentive to detail; communicating with diverse groups; conveying technical information to non-technical audiences; work in flexible shifts, including but not limited to evenings, nights, weekends and holidays; working nonstandard hours.

Responsibility

Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; utilization of resources from other work units may be required to perform the job's functions. Work Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some climbing and balancing, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 80% sitting, 20% walking, and standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and in a generally hazard free environment. The ability to periodically lift equipment up to 50 pounds is required.

Experience: Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
