Facilities/Maintenance Manager

Reporting to:

Vice President - Engineering

Overview:

Paradigm Properties, LLC is a Boston based firm formed in 1997 to acquire and manage office and industrial properties in Boston and various other cities. The company seeks an energetic achiever to fill the position of Facilities/Maintenance Manager to be positioned at a campus in Chestnut Hill, leading a maintenance engineering department supporting several privately owned buildings. Paradigm also offers substantial room for learning and career growth for a motivated individual.

Position Description:

Paradigm Properties is seeking a working technical supervisor and hands on leader with responsibilities focused on management of a five-person team supporting the facilities and maintenance program. With limited daily direction the Facilities Manager will lead a crew of Maintenance Technicians and or multidisciplined contracted trades in performing a variety of capital improvements, operational projects and technical service/repairs in one or more skilled areas including but not limited to HVAC, steam boiler operations, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, roofing, painting and four season groundskeeping. Accountable for providing daily direction for projects and personnel.

Responsibilities:

  • Responds to emergency situations, troubleshoots and provide solutions to problems.
  • Plans, selects, and prepares the materials for installation, service and/or repair work as required.
  • Provides hands on repair/direction and will work from drawings, schematics, blueprints, job layouts or verbal instructions and operate a variety of tools and machines related to the job at hand.
  • Will gather and provide proposals, validate estimates and present costs of various projects as requested.
  • Ensures project status and/or the quality of performance is documented and reported to upper management on a timely and consistent basis.
  • Provides audit/reports of all system performance levels as requested.
  • Required to make recommendations regarding repair, replacement or maintenance of all assigned equipment, buildings or grounds.
  • Responsible for the requisition and documentation of all supplies and equipment.
  • Responsible for supervision of sub-contractors and vendors.
  • Ensures compliance of all city, state, and federal license and any certification requirements.
  • Provides work direction, orientation, training and review/inspection to assigned personnel.
  • Provides required administrative support as needed, such as time sheet review, manpower scheduling.

Skills/Experience:

  • High School Diploma with added college or technical training preferred
  • Six to eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of associated technical training and management instruction/involvement
  • Applicant must have a valid driver’s license
  • Related experience in a commercial and or residential property setting
  • Will carry a provided cell phone for rapid reaction and communication
  • Physical requirements include stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs / ladders and ability to lift and occasionally carry loads of up to 30 lbs.
  • Computer literacy including proficiency with Microsoft Word or comparable application Experience with Microsoft Excel software helpful
  • Proven ability to learn new software applications.
  • Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills, both oral and written

Work Environment:

This job operates on a large multi building business and residential campus that is 100% smoke/drug/alcohol free. Job duties will require generally working inside but at times outside in support of certain tasks. Typical working hours are 7AM to 3:30PM M-F
