Paradigm Health System is Hiring a Medical Assistant - Interventional Pain Management Near Mandeville, LA

Nurse/Medical Assistant

  • Fulfills patient care responsibilities which may include checking physician schedules, accompanying patients to/from exam room and assisting patients walking to/from building as needed.
  • Collects and processes specimens and point of care testing, preparing for exam, etc.; assist physicians with various procedures, takes vital signs, relays instructions to patients and/or family members; answers telephone inquiries and provides pertinent information.
  • Assesses and documents HPI to determine one or more chief complaints in a structured format; may enter an HPI for each chief complaint or document an overall HPI for the visit; links chief complaint to a specific structured HPI.
  • Assesses and documents Past Medical History which may be carried forward from a previous note to the current note; reviews and updates as necessary.
  • Reviews and updates patient’s Allergies and Medication History.
  • Performs and updates Review of Systems in a structured format which may be used to calculate an appropriate E&M service level code.
  • Uses Flowsheets/Labs to capture and view aggregate data during the patient encounter; captures and scans results from e-labs.
  • Conducts Assessment to add medical conditions or problems to the patient list which may appear on the patient’s Chart Summary and carryover from one visit to the next; adds pre-existing or chronic conditions to the patient assessment list with or without an onset data.
  • Prepares prescription refill requests on behalf of the provider for review and approval.
  • Conducts and captures patient Plan/Disposition/QM as part of the encounter note; enter narrative plan for the patient per provider instruction and direction.
  • Provide to individuals who need to receive a copy of the printed encounter; sends thank you letters to referring physicians upon request.
  • Review data captured in the History and Exam component areas to confirm new or established service level coding for office visits; notify the provider of omissions and/or discrepancies.
  • Fulfills support responsibilities which may include sending and receiving patient medical records, obtaining x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc., completing forms and requisitions as needed.
  • Communicates to patient regarding scheduled or pending procedures and/or ancillary services; responds to patient concerns; obtains necessary Informed Consent signature.
  • Conducts supply inventory of exam rooms; orders and/or re-stocks supplies promptly as necessary; ensures availability of patient specific supplies at time of visit.
  • Manage patient EMR to ensure information is complete and accurate; closes patient record at the conclusion of the patient encounter for specified physicians.
  • Maintains a safe, functional and effective environment for patients, staff and visitors in and outside of our organization.
  • Maintains an effective medication management standard to ensure safe storage, ordering, dispensing and monitoring of medications.
  • Ensures quality assessment of patients, planning of care, direct patient care, patient education and training and coordination of follow up care.
  • Order DME as needed.
  • Sterilizes equipment and utilize autoclave equipment as needed.
  • Complete and submit 1010 forms and prior authorizations as needed.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $28,000.00 - $39,000.00 per year
