Par Pacific is Hiring an Assistant Mechanic Near Tacoma, WA

U.S. Oil & Refining, a Par Pacific company, is an industry leader in the production and supply of high-quality motor, aviation and marine fuels and asphalt in the Puget Sound market. We have a refinery capacity of 42,000 bbls per stream day, and total storage capacity of 2.7 million bbls, with 1.4 million bbls of crude and the remainder products. We also offer biofuels in various blends at our loading rack.

Reporting to the Maintenance & Construction Manager, you will be responsible for repair of rotating equipment throughout the refinery and may also be required to repair or assist other multi-craft mechanics in the routine maintenance of other refinery equipment.

The Requirements

To meet the basic qualification for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. To be a good fit for the Assistant Mechanic - Rotating Equipment opportunity, you will have:

  • Three (3) years' experience and journeyman skill level in rotating equipment maintenance and repair, machinist, or millwright craft.
  • Demonstrated basic understanding of taking clearance measurements and recording information.
  • Demonstrated basic understanding of obtaining manufacturer's specification data and comparing to taken measurements.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, pump drawings and seal drawings.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for performing rotating equipment work.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow instructions and written procedures.
  • Interest in performing maintenance work in an industrial field setting.
  • Potential to achieve a journeyman skill level in a second craft area before being promoted to a B Mechanic and a third craft area before promotion to A Mechanic.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required. Technical school credentials are highly desirable.
  • Ability and willingness to do outside work in all-weather with considerable climbing. Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds is required.
  • Ability and willingness to do work in confined spaces when required.
  • Willingness to do rotating shift work including some nights and weekends.
  • Willingness to work overtime as required.
  • Willingness to do marine vessel mooring activities including deployment of boom, mooring lines and connect/disconnect of loading hoses.

Starting Pay Rate:

$44.57 per hour

Benefits:

Full-time employees (and their families) are offered medical (with prescription), dental, vision, short-term disability, life/AD&D insurance, Flexible Spending Account, and voluntary critical illness/accident insurance. Union employees are eligible for a pension plan and can enroll in our company's 401k plan. Employees are eligible for Washington State Paid Sick Leave, vacation (after one year of service), and have eleven paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
