Panagora seeks a Program Director with technicalexperience in Global Health in our home office in Silver Spring, Maryland.Successful candidates will have demonstrated experience managing and winningUSAID Global Health projects, specifically those focused on health security, infectious disease prevention andtreatment, and/or health systems strengthening. They will provide strategic leadership to ensuretechnical excellence in these areas across the organization, represent Panagoraglobally, and develop and maintain relationships that grow Panagora’s portfolioand strengthen its reputation. The Director will oversee and ensure qualitytechnical assistance to country programs; supervise and manage technical staff;make significant contributions to new business development, particularly intechnical strategy and writing; and oversee programmatic progress againstsuccess indicators.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technicalleadership and oversight of Panagora’s work in global health, global healthsecurity, infectious diseaseprevention and treatment, andhealth systems strengthening
  • Lead start-ups andclose outs of USAID funded programs
  • Lead development andimplementation of activity work plans and budgets, ensuring effectiveimplementation and achievement of priority initiatives and activities
  • Serve as programdirector for multiple activities ensuring compliance with contract requirementsand activity performance via regular financial and program tracking andreports, M&E data, communication with field teams, and periodic supervisorytravel
  • Lead and supportactivities to ensure high quality performance and optimally manage and alignactivities with Panagora’s quality assurance standards
  • Define successindicators for assigned programs based on best practices and industry standards
  • Serve as liaison withclients and ensure customer satisfaction
  • Champion knowledgestewardship within global health, MEL, and gender by promoting capture anddissemination of activity approaches, innovations, stories, and routine updatesinto company and external platforms
  • Ensure short-term assignmentsare well staffed and carried out as planned through clear scopes of work,high-quality personnel, and facilitative oversight
  • Ensure all donor andactivity reports are compliant and submitted on time
  • Support new businessdevelopment, providing leadership in technical conceptualization and writing,recruitment of high-quality technical personnel, and contribute to othersections
  • Seek out new businessopportunities to maximize Panagora’s impact and leverage
  • Actively support andrepresent Panagora’s mission and values in conduct and communications
  • Represent Panagoraperiodically at conferences, meetings, and events. Develop and maintainexcellent professional relationships with governments, global institutions, anddonors
  • Mentor staff toensure high levels of motivation, commitment, capacity, and teamwork supportingprocesses that allow for capacity building, coaching, and mentoring of staffand local partners

Requirements

  • Advanceddegree in public health, international development, or another relevant field(or Bachelor’s degree and 25 years of relevant experience)
  • Strong technicalexperience with health security, health systems strengthening, and infectiousdiseases treatment and prevention preferred
  • 20 or more years ofexperience successfully leading technical teams and development programs
  • Demonstratedleadership skills with at least 7 years managing multiple levels of staff
  • Excellentunderstanding of USAID systems, structures, and process, in particular global healthprogramming
  • Experience with USAIDprogram start up and close out required
  • Strong track recordto lead and support winning proposals including ability to conceptualize andwrite technical proposals
  • Strong verbal andwritten communication skills
  • Demonstratedleadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Demonstratedexperience managing and working with multi-cultural teams with diverse skillsets
  • Experience living andworking overseas in low resource settings with the ability to work in complexenvironments charged with multiple tasks, short deadlines, and pressure toperform
  • Fluency in a secondlanguage preferred
  • Willingness to travelinternationally, primarily to developing countries
