Reports to: Youth and Family Program Director

Position Overview:

Nestled next to the protected open space of the Arastradero Preserve, Palo Alto Hills Golf & Country Club (PAHGCC) offers incomparable Bay Area vistas. Our welcoming and distinctive private club provides challenging golf, year-round recreation, artistic culinary and social activities for Members, their families, and guests. Built in 1958, PAHGCC was developed with a vision to be the family club, inclusive of women and children and has been a leading example of family membership ever since. The Club recommitted to its family values and dedication to youth in 2012 with a 30,000sq foot expansion of its Family Fitness Center. The golf course also underwent an ambitious renovation of all 18 holes in 2020, that is now the premier championship course on the peninsula. Here at Palo Alto Hills we blend the outdoors, family, and exceptional golf in one of the most idyllic locations in the Bay Area.

Lifeguard positions are seasonal from May through September.

Responsibilities:

Respond to and execute emergency lifesaving procedures to swimmers in distress and other emergencies at the pool.
Enforce pool rules of the pool.
Complete Incident Reports regarding incidents at the pool
Attend all mandatory In-Service Trainings and Safety/Staff Meetings
Help maintain cleanliness of Wellness Center locker rooms.
Reviews all pool equipment and furniture for functionality.
Provides excellent customer service to membership.

Other Duties And Responsibilites

Due of the fluctuating nature of the private club environment and operations, it may be necessary that each employee perform a multitude of different functions. It may be necessary to work in other areas of the Club and help others when the occasion arises. Accordingly, you may be expected to perform other tasks as needed or directed.

Qualifications:

Current Lifeguard CPR/AED Certification in a pool setting.
Professional, team-player, responsible, self-motivated, and reliable
Must be at least 15 years old.
Available to potentially work nights, weekends & holidays.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Must be able to reach, bend, stoop, stand and lift up to 40 pounds.
Must be able to handle hot and cold interior and outdoor conditions.
Public speaking at meetings and events

Compensation & Benefits:

Compensation: $19 - $20 per hour depending on experience
This is an hourly non-exempt position that is eligible for overtime
Time and Half Pay on Holidays
Sick Time and an Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
Meals provided 6 days per week
Our premier championship golf course is open for staff to enjoy on select Mondays
