Palmetto State Armory L is Hiring a Quality Assurance Manager Near West Columbia, SC

JOB PURPOSE

The Quality Assurance Manager establishes the direction and strategic vision for Palmetto State Armory’s Quality Programs and Initiatives. This position reports directly to the Plant Manager - Dunbar. As part of the senior management team, regularly consults with executive leadership. The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for all quality, lean and ISO 9000/9001 related issues throughout the organization; establishes and nurtures an environment that always fosters continual improvement thinking. The position serves on the management team to establish strategic business objectives, quality measures and quality system surveillance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist Plant Manager in developing policies and procedures, as well as long- and short-term goals.
  • Develop Strategic and Tactical Quality Plans.
  • Facilitate and lead efforts for Strategic Planning and Quality improvement.
  • Ensure regular formal quality education is planned for all divisions.
  • Knowledge of ISO implementation and processes.
  • Prepares required written documentation for executive review.
  • Adhere to all Safety Principles and all Quality System Standards.
  • Manages document control process including document release, control of records, document storage, and record retention.
  • Internal and external audit management.
  • Manages the Non-Conforming Material review process.
  • Provide leadership to support and coordinate efforts that ensure our company achieves goals and objectives that are consistent with the company values and mission.
  • Serves as the Quality Management Representative.
  • Establish a working relationship with quality departments for each of Palmetto State Armory’s major vendors.
  • Ensure policies and procedures are in place and followed for inspecting all inbound products.
  • Develops, plans and implements checks for all outgoing product; working hand in hand with customer service and the online warehouse.
  • Develops a method of quality feedback. Feedback is provided on a regular basis to pickers and packers.
  • Assist in on-the-job training of other employees.
  • Work interdepartmentally to continually improve operations and grow our business.
  • Assist with the hiring/firing, training/development, performance management and safety of employees. Provide discipline, both written and oral when necessary.
  • All other duties, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 3 years managerial experience of Quality Departments.
  • Minimum of 3 years Quality experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 5-7 years in a decision-making technical, professional or management position; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Hand gauge experience: Calipers, Micrometers, Height Stands.
  • Strong knowledge base of NetSuite or another ERP system
  • Must be able to build a high-performance team.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T.
  • Contact and non-contact measuring systems preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with executive management and work group.
  • Ability to construct and write business documents, including Quality Manual, Procedures and Forms.
  • Proficient skills with computers, Microsoft Office required.
  • Skilled in quality tools, such as, Fishbone, 5-Whys, 8D etc. preferred.
  • Able to lead, motivate, mentor, communicate and generally interact with people in a positive way.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills; looks for continuous improvement and implementation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including effective communication both orally and written.
  • Positive attitude, goal driven, and focused on the overall strategic picture of the organization.
  • Required to maintain confidentiality.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed in a high-volume manufacturing environment, working with chemicals, and handling with both manual and automated equipment and systems; and will involve working in a typical office environment. Specific job assignments may require day, evening, weekend, or holiday hours. Overtime may be required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Team members are constantly standing, walking, carrying, pulling/pushing, bending, seeing, kneeling, stooping, reaching, hearing, as well as handing paperwork, and computer and phone usage. Team members will be lifting objects weighing 50 lbs. or less regularlyCleaning material and chemicals used regularly.
