Position: Wine, Beer & Spirits Manager

Reports to: Store Director

Key Responsibilities: 

• Interact with customers in an educational and fun manner. Providing a warm welcome into our little world of beverages.
• Maintain stock in a clean, orderly, and aesthetically pleasing manner.
• Develop and implement strategies to grow department sales and meet profitability goals. Including, but not limited to, online sales and club programs.
• Manage labor and product costs to meet budgetary goals. 
• Engage as an active member of our leadership team and constantly be on the lookout for ways to improve the Palace brand. 
• Ensure our customers leave the store blissfully happy, singing your praises, with their arms full of beverages and other delights.

You would be ideal for this job if you: 

• Have 2 years experience in retail or hospitality management. 
• Really dig making people’s days and have an over the top love for passionately produced beverages.
• Possess a working knowledge of wine and spirits and their various uses/pairings. Expertise in local/domestic makers preferred. 
• Lead by example in maintaining a safe and enriching workplace.
• Actively take on new areas of responsibility, building towards mastery of your craft. 
• Are adaptive, positive, and lead change. 
• Proficient in a variety of technology systems including Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and Slack. The ability and willingness to become familiar with our POS (Catapult) and payroll (Paylocity) systems. 
• Have a healthy relationship with alcohol.
• Can work days, evenings, holidays and weekends. 
• Are over 21 years old. 
• Our unicorn candidates also possess fine cheese knowledge, and have the experience necessary to manage our industry leading local artisan cheese counter.

Physical Requirements: 

The alcohol department is a physically demanding corner of the store, as such we expect that candidates can: 

• Lift, carry, push, or pull objects up to 50lbs 
• Repeatedly kneel, bend, twist, and squat
• Work (stand/walk) on the sales floor for the duration of their shifts.

Compensation: 

• Approximately $60,000-72,000/yr based on experience and sales performance. 
• Full-time, hourly work.
