The Pactiv Evergeen Plant City Converting Facility is located in Plant City, Florida, less thanan hour outside Tampa and its amenities and beautiful beaches. Opened in 1992 and expanded in 1998 with 195 team members, the facility prints and die cuts refrigerated gable top cartons for a variety of global brands found in retail groceries throughout the US.

Responsibilities

Purpose: 

  • Develop people and systems related to product quality to ensure product meets regulatory requirements; complies with state and local laws; and meets internal and external customer expectations.
  • Lead high-performance work team of empowered individuals (group of goal-focused individuals with specialized expertise and complementary skills who collaborate, innovate and produce consistently superior results).
  • Must demonstrate the ability to build trust within the team and organization. Must be able to work in an environment that relies on mutual accountability.
  • Must be able to establish a clear understanding of all team members' responsibility to the team and their individual obligations. Must be able to manage to the Vision.
  • Must understand inputs to the Cost of Poor Quality and its calculation.
  • Works with team to ensure product specifications are met.
  • Focus on reduction of variance, continuous improvement, and internal process controls to reduce downtime, waste, and incremental costs to increase company ROI. Improve quality systems related to product quality using feedback from external customers, technical service specialists, and other quality team members.
  • Provide key support for product development and new materials trials.
  • Drive commitment to “doing it right the first time”. The Quality team leader plays a pivotal role in customer satisfaction and system improvement.
  • Must be able to collect and analyze data.
  • Must be able to develop and/or adapt quality systems to drive operational excellence in the process.
  • Must communicate, collaborate and successfully get buy-in across areas of the organization to gain consensus on system change. The role provides key feedback from TSRs and customers to identify changing focus in their business and provide appropriate system controls, and requires the ability to formulate and implement protocols and coordinate trials for new or improved raw materials, regulatory compliance as well as new product implementation trial. Must also be able to run the high-tech equipment of Plant City that has annual sales of over $160,000,000 per year.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Enforce all location safety and health rules and regulations and environmental standards.
  • Provide leadership that supports the workplace culture improvement process throughout the hourly and salaried teams. Coordinate changes in methods and procedures to improve profitability and operational performance. Work “on the process” as well as “in the process” to drive continuous improvement in Safety, Quality, Waste, Throughput and Earnings.
  • Perform role of SQF practitioner described in HR-PLC-FRM-0016 SQF Practitioner, administering SQF Program and maintaining certification with a rating of Excellent.
  • Administration of the Quality Management System, its requirements and documentation.
  • Administration and development of procedures and standard operating procedures.
  • Leading Manufacturing Excellence (ME) initiatives in the facility including leading project coordination and reporting Four squares, tracking data and submitting all corporate reporting requirements. Mentoring other ME leads.
  • Administration and Management of internal audits
  • Hourly/daily/weekly/monthly interface with leadership and team members, internal and external business support people and sales team members.
  • Manage customer complaints using Dynamics CRM. Manage required internal/external communications, documentation and complete reconciliation of issues.
  • Verification and resolution of root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Analyze process data to assist with driving improvement. Utilize Gain Seeker for data entry and analysis.
  • Coordinate quality training for new team members. .
  • Ensure quality assurance and other team members are properly trained and all training is completed in a timely manner.
  • Develop and implement systems and frameworks through which all team members work, make business decisions, and deliver business results.
  • Responsible for duties listed EP-SQF-2.1.2.4 & 2.1.2.5
  • Responsible for reporting food safety problems and implementing corrective action as required.
  • Develop and maintain customer relationships to ensure business goals are met.
  • Ensure effective implementation and on-going compliance with Pactiv Evergreen Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Provide products and services that consistently meet the mutually agreed upon specifications of both our internal and external customers.
  • Involve team members in continuously improving the quality of our products and services, the efficiency of operations, and activities across the team. .
  • Responsible for providing resources and tools necessary for the development and implementation of quality and food safety systems.
  • Provide leadership and direction for achieving Quality Key Performance Metrics.
  • Provide leadership for quality improvement by interpreting policy, recommending strategies, organizing resources, and assisting in the development and implementation of improvement plans.
  • Produce safe, quality products that comply with all applicable federal, state, and international laws, regulations, and guidelines. Compliance will be assured internally and externally through third-party audits and product testing.
  • Perform duties of back-up SQF Practitioner but competent to fulfill role of Lead Practitioner as necessary. Ensure that all requirements of SQF Code are being met at the facility.
  • Assist in annual verification of area SOPs
  • Participate in the yearly HAACP review
  • Participate in monthly internal audits.
  • Assist in maintaining union-free status

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Engineering is preferred, not required.
  • 10 years of Quality leadership experience in a high volume manufacturing environment required.
  • Must be able to operate office equipment including desktop computers, handheld devices, photocopiers, scanners, facsimile machines, and voicemail systems
  • Normally works an 8-hour shift but may work more hours as needed.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. on occasion.
  • Must be able to work on manufacturing production floor and able to wear all required safety equipment.
